Concidering how long it takes to make a translations and how Deuce seems to have done two in a row. I'd saw he's worthy of taking a nice long-deserved break.

I noticed that after all that hard work, Nightwolve, Deuce, and the rest of the translation gang became like.... women with periods.
Give them a break These old-timers have been through tough times.

I know (can read, write, speak) 3 languages already. I don't think I'm ready for a 4th!

PS: a translation of the Config utility and the ability to run the game in an English WinXP would be a good start ^^ Dude, what's wrong with it in Japanese? You need to simply learn to appreciate Japanese more is what I think. You don't need it in English... Japanese is way way more cool, silly, or haven't you figured that out already? but how can yo understand, man. how-can-you-understand-?

Ive been trying to learn Japanese as much as I can in my spare time... and dont worry deuce its not because of some crazy japanese video game/anime/film/envy/fandom thingy. Its mostly business related. Anyways, I just started playing OiF and i never realized that not knowing Japanese would piss me off this much. Maybe its cuz ive only sat through the first few minutes which is mostly talking and less action... anyways, I started trying hard to find a word or something i could recognize, then realized I could completely understand "私の名前は、エレナ。" I know its realy basic but it's incredibly encouraging. Im more motivated to learn more Japanese now than ever. Besides that scentence ive been able to find things i know in every peice of dialogue, be it a word or a character. Im going to do a few more lessons, practice, then get back to the game. You could say that Ys is almost an educational tool for me is it true that the japanese in most video games is at a children's level of understanding as they try to avoid using Kanji or is it reflective of how the current language and culture is over there?

You could say that Ys is almost an educational tool for me Hehe, I did the same thing, but with Ys III for PS2. I followed the words in the text as they spoke, and I could actually read almost all of it. That was also very encouraging (although I didn't understand that much of it).

Yeah it's sure playing in japanese is the better way to learn it I really love this language But if someone don't want to learn it or don't have the time or any other reason I can give you the us patch here : <LINK REMOVED> Don't forget, with this patch you need to emulate the game on a virtual drive if you don't have the original game with a software like daemon tools or you be owned. And accept all the update to make your game in version 1.2.0.3. But don't forget...Japanese is the best! Well I hope this patch can help some people for playing. Bye everyone EDIT: The link of the us patch as been removed so if you want it send me a MP... PS: Sorry for my english he is very bad^^

Hmmm... something is fishy. Anyway, the new dood ignored my post from his thread, I suppose. Reading is good. Also, what a topic excavation here. xD

Also, what a topic excavation here. xD Seriously. If this happened on some other boards, the person might have been INSTA-BANNED. D: I mean, this thread's been dead for 2 years! But at least this goes to show that someone does a search and reads older topics before posting and that, says I, is spiffy message board etiquette!

What ever happened to the translation? Did it get completed or canceled?

What ever happened to the translation? Did it get completed or canceled? You were not aware of the drama and controversy that surrounded it? There should be threads about it around here (or even in this thread). If not, check out the Ys Origin translation thread and you'll understand what went on. :P

The author decided not to release it, after finishing it. But it's available for download on various places, like Mininova, for example.
