Got the game and have all the current patchs and drivers, but my graphics typically look like this. My vid card is a Geforce 440MX. I know not the best, but I played Ys VI just fine on the same system and this game seems very similar technically to that one. Any ideas? Funny thing is Im up to Valestine Castle playing it like this >< lol. Thanks for any input.

wow. I am using the exact same card. i set it up for both dx8 and dx9 with no problems. runs great only in 640x480 mode. anything else is too much for it. I am using the xp sp2 driver provided by microsoft for it currently.

Tried both DX9 and normal launchers. Tried every default setting, and various unchecked boxes. The game itself runs fine even in higher quality, but ill be walking along and then half the background textures will dissapear/flash like that. Could be the Service Pack thing, SP2 has just given me problems so I stick with SP1.

I have the same card and I'm running top settings with absolutely no problem at all (at 1024x768). Both DX8 and DX9 works great.

I have the exact same problems with a Geforce 2 MX card, never got it to work. But Ys6 does the same on that card so I've had to play both games on my slow laptop ... Have you tried Ys 6 recently? Maybe they broke something in the newer drivers?

No I havent had Ys 6 installed for a while (and havent played the PC version since it came out). Ill try it when I get the chance and see if it does the same thing. Im running on a Athlon 2200xp btw. The graphics arent always like that, like everything will look fine but in a lot of areas a little bit/some/a lot of the background dissapears like in the picture. Or, for example, sometimes like, a bridge in the mines, or all the water graphics by the docks will dissapear but everything else is fine.

I fixed the problem, maybe it will work for you too FX. I rolled my graphics card driver back to 45.23 and it works fine now. There must be something wrong with my card and the latest driver for japanese applications or something, because Ys 6, OiF, and 2 JP Final Fantasy XI tools that lets you view character models all had the same problem.

When I think about it.. I had a similiar problem like this with YsVI. I played it just fine when it was new (with the latest NVIDIA drivers by then). But then - later, with newer drivers, the bosses turned out completely black! That's pretty weird! However - now - almost two years later, the game works fine with the current drivers (or rather, the latest drivers I had when I last played it - and that was... a long time ago, so let's say one year later.) Also, a friend of mine couldn't watch videos on his computer, but when he installed newer drivers, it worked just fine.. However, about a year later, he installed the latest drivers, and now he can't watch video on his computer any more! Drivers are weird things.
