It is apparent to me that I'm probably in the minority, that being one of those people crazy enough to play this game and have little or no grasp of the Japanese language. Having played Ys III before I had a general idea of what was going on, but there are tiny differences here and there I would never get.

For instance, something that seems to be taken for granted is Dularn. Before I finished the game I came across someone's post that marked him as a 'her' and later someone said she was the nun from back in town. No idea why that was, only that Sister Nell did in fact turn out to be Dularn, but why?
Then there's Garland. Having played Ys III I was waiting for him to show up at Ilbern Ruins, but he never appeared. I kept waiting and waiting, and filled up my Characters dictionary until it was completely full by the time I was in Valestine Castle, and Garland STILL didn't show up (and I was starting to wonder about things, since Dularn, some nobody boss in Ys III, was in the dictionary). So I get to the end of the castle and FINALLY he shows up, but it turns out he was Bishop Nicholas the whole time. Then it occurred to me that character ALSO wasn't in Ys III. Sure, Garland in Ys III was some jobber who worked for Galbalan and stuff, but this time it seemed a little different, as if Garland wasn't so much as serving Galbalan as if he were attempting to awaken a great weapon. Just what was Garland's deal, anyway? I assume he was Dularn's unspoken master (going by Deuce's translation), but what did he have to gain by awakening Galbalan?
