I was curious, has anyone seen anything official from Konami or Falcom about a possible PS2 port of Felghana? I would think the PS2 Ys VI port would have sold well in Japan at least...and hopefully sold a decent amount in the US as well. The ability to play in "PC mode" was an awesome feature (although it would have irritated me if I hadn't known about this beforehand--and played through with english dub voices and no anime cutscenes I thoroughly enjoyed Ys VI on the PS2 (it's my favorite PS2 game)... If there's nothing official from Konami I think we, the fan community, should let them know how important this series is to us--does anyone want to start a petition...? I'll probably send some snail mail letters to Konami in the US and Japan, and also to Falcom in Japan...lets get the ball rolling! =] Gabe

Seems Falcom's released an UMD disc full of trailers. YsF is on it. Does this mean they'll port YsF to PSP? It is very likely.

Yeah I know but ... YsF is their biggest game yet and they'll probably port it.

I'd still rather it be on PS2, especially since I'm more of a console person, & there's more room on a DVD, then on a UMD, or atleast I think there is!

YsF only needs about 1GB anyway.

If it does get ported, I'll be on board for it, even if it were to stay in Japan. I've bought Ys VI three times already, but I won't mind doing the same for Oath in Felghana either.

When I loaded up the boards today and scrolled down to the III/Felghana area, this is what I saw: on Jun 17, 2006, 8:09pm by wyrdwad in Felghana PS2 port anno... I got so excited... you can imagine how disappointed I was when I saw the actual thread. Man, you guys got me all excited for nothing. Well, we can always keep hoping we'll hear about it soon, right? Even if the port had Ys VI-type horrible load times on PSP, I have to admit that I'd buy it no matter what. I had a great time playing VI on PSP, the game seemed really well suited to the portable experience for some reason, despite the fact that it obviously looked much better on PS2 and PC.

Graphically? No way. The Oath in Felghana is so beautiful on top settings. A PS2 could never do that and a PSP is weaker than that.

Didn't Konami's developers say the reason the PSP Napishtim's load times were so frequent and long was because of the high usage of sprites? They said something about the PSP not having enough cache for the sprites (as it wasn't made for 2D games) so they had to keep loading and dumping memory in between screens. Even though Adol and the enemies didn't have really smooth animation, they still had quite a lot of sprites each (all different behaviors animated in 8 angles) and that probably takes up more memory than a low poly count 3D model with low res textures.
I'm not so sure Falcom will be able to do it much better if this is the case. I'd keep an eye on Eiyuu Densetsu VI for PSP and see how that turns out since it uses pretty much the same graphics engine as Napishtim and Felghana.

Isn't the UMD drive in the PSP super slow? I s'pose all PSP games have long loading times, at least longer than other systems.

Maverick Hunter X did a good job with loading times. Then again, it was all 3D models.

Doesn't ED4 lack the detail you can see in YsVI? From the screenshots I've seen it looks very simplistic.

EDIT: Whoops... somehow I replied to this thread without catching that there was another partial page of replies. Embarrassing. I'll let it go, though... I'm not necessarily sure I buy that excuse they gave. Guilty Gear XX #Reload on PSP is perfect (I may go as far as to say better, considering how damn good it looks), and there's a whole lot more going on there in the 2D department than in Ys VI. That said, I'm not even positive that Konami did the port in-house... seems like the blame keeps shifting. I recall a lot of the credits going to a studio in China, but I wasn't paying a ton of attention to the names. Could always go run past the ending again to be sure. My point is, if Konami or Falcom had their top people on it, I think the port could have been a lot better. But I did love what we got regardless, and if Felghana came in a similar form, I'll be damned if I wouldn't buy it no matter what. Gurumin sounds to be an altogether better port from the limited stuff I've heard so far. I hope to know soon myself...

Konami Computer Entertainment Hawaii handled the PS2 and PSP ports. I had never heard of "Konami Computer Entertainment Hawaii" before this.
If KCET (Tokyo) would've handled the port, it would be flawless, no doubt about it.

And someday, someday, PSP might actually have a worthy game that isn't a port.

And Daxter is also PSP exclusive, & I hear though it's short, it's deffinitly one of the best games on the PSP to date. Now if only I had a PSP.

What if Felghana got ported only to the PSP with tons of new features? I think a bunch of members here would drop some cash in a hurry.

I bought a PSP for 300 buckaroos several months ago when I found out megaman games were on it and Ys Ark of Napishtim. Katamari Damacy is pretty badass for it ass well.
