Firstly, my specs:
P4 2.8Ghz Processor
1024MB DDR Ram
Radeon 9800Pro 128 MB (with Catalyst 6.5 Omega Drivers)
Intel Desktop Board D865GBF
SoundMAX Digital Audio
Windows XP Home Edition (SP1)
*Japanese unicode option is enabled*
Having a bit of trouble with Ys (as usual). I'm simply trying to get back into playing OiF again but now it's decided to crash at startup with absolutely no error messages or anything.
[ADDED] To clarify, just a black screen comes up, the CPU works and gives me a sense of false hope as if the Falcom logo video will play, then it just crashes back to desktop. ARGH.
Just today I added another 512MB of ram to this computer, but literally every other application is running perfectly fine (hell of a lot better I might add) and I'm wondering if that has anything to do it.
I've tried taking the DVD in and out of the drive, I've tried dumping it to an image and mounting it in DaemonTools, I've tried restarting and reinstalling and no matter what I get this irritating crash out of nowhere.
Still, it's been a while since I've played and I think the last time I did I had older video drivers. Could the newer drivers be causing the problem?
I very rarely have things crash like Ys is on this computer, and I'm having flashbacks to my Windows 3.1 days. :C
And I've tried patching it, that didn't work. Really I could care less about the patching at this point, as my first priority is getting it to run in the first place. Especially switching up my language settings, ugh...
...unless of course that translation patch is ready, considering it's all quiet on the western front when it comes to an official version...
