Several of you asked, so here it is! I've sacrificed one copy of the Visual Fanbook on the holy altar of scanning for the sake of this community. Hope you all enjoy it. And for those interested, I scan these typically with the largest pixel dimension being around 5000. I keep those copies for editing purposes, so if you want one of the pictures bigger for whatever reason, toss me a PM and I'll hook you up. Scannable Goodness Here.I've only got a few pages up so far, but more will be added as I get time. And here's the product info for those of you who want to be good little Falcomites and order one for yourself, if you haven't already. Item Number: B29 ISBN: 4-86176-250-2 Price: 1,980 yen

Wow! \o\ Amazing Lumi! Thank you! xD You scanned them REALLY well! How did you do it? xD Did you break the book's spine or what? By the way, I'm trying to scan a manga for a translation project's sake. It hurts me, but I would even break the spines or rip every page to scan them perfectly. ;_; The problem is that I don't know how to break the spines...do you have any advice? ^^"

Hmm. There looks to be a lot of stuff they took out of the final game. Knife Elena? Snowcoat Elena? Chester in an ice pillar maze? Wonder why they didn't make the cut.

How did you do it? xD Did you break the book's spine or what? The problem is that I don't know how to break the spines...do you have any advice? ^^" Generally I just keep opening the book as wide as it'll go. Some spines are more stubborn than others. For this one, since I have another copy I'm keeping nice, I took some advice nunuu posted awhile back. I put the book in the microwave for about 10 seconds at a time to uh, soften the binding glue. Just be careful not to turn your manga or artbook into fire fuel. ^^; For more technical info, I use a Umax Astra 6700 flatbed scanner, and I scan the images in 24-bit color at 600 dpi. Then I downsize the images and adjust gamma/brightness/contrast and such in Paintshop Pro. Voila, done. Hmm. There looks to be a lot of stuff they took out of the final game. Knife Elena? Snowcoat Elena? Chester in an ice pillar maze? Wonder why they didn't make the cut. I love Elena's "ranger" outfit. It seems like they were considering having a scene with her and Adol together up on the Elderm Mountains, but apparently it got cut. What a shame, too. It would've been nice to see Elena able to kick a little ass. I wish my Japanese were better, because I'm also curious as to the dialogue in the windows of those various "deleted scenes". Though I completely don't get Gothic Lolita Elena there. Crazy artists.

Thanks for the tips. I'd never guess using a microwave was a good idea. "o.o scary

Neither did I, till nunuu said it. ; But it really does work. But seriously, no more than 10 seconds at a time, then pull open the book to test the binding a bit. Do it again if it's not bending enough for you. And I'd NEVER do it with any of my artbooks I don't own a second copy of.

You wouldn't have a manga anymore. You'd have ink flambé.

Wow, it worked!! XD Unbelievable! I just tested it with a cheap local manga. Soon I'll try with the real thing. It was funny. While I was watching it there I just thought "wtf_ am I doing for Christ's sake! xDD"
Btw_ I'd like to ask you a more ontopic-related question. If I were in Japan, do you think I would find such an artbook in a common manga (book/magazine or whatever) store?...(my friend is in Japan, so...)

Holy crap.. that black dress Elena is smoking hot. I so don't get that one-- but it's neat artwork nonetheless. Elena had the most pages of material artwork out of any of the characters... no surprise there. Wow, it worked!! XD Unbelievable! I just tested it with a cheap local manga. Soon I'll try with the real thing. It was funny. While I was watching it there I just thought "wtf_ am I doing for Christ's sake! xDD" Btw_ I'd like to ask you a more ontopic-related question. If I were in Japan, do you think I would find such an artbook in a common manga (book/magazine or whatever) store?...(my friend is in Japan, so...) Haha! I know what you mean. I think my family thought I lost my mind when I swept past them in the kitchen to pop a BOOK in the microwave... As for finding the book in Japan... I'm not sure. ^^; You could probably ask your friend to check around for it by giving the people at the store the ISBN number. I just ordered mine directly from Falcom.

These scans are marvelous. I can't read it all too well myself, perhaps Deuce could translate it sometime, of his own will of course. It'd be interesting to know what it says. I'm only still learning myself.

I'm with you there. Although I've been a bit lazy on practicing my Japanese lately... For those who either want to translate, or want to practice translating, kick me a PM and I'll get you the much larger scans. The kanji in the screencaps on there is a bit easier to read. And I'll get around to adding some more pages soon, promise!
