I'm a pretty big newbie to the wyhole Falcom scene, but after playing through Oath of Felghana and seeing some pictures of ED6, I had to play it.
I'm impressed with the look and style, but I'm stuck and have a couple of questions.
1. I'm following the guide for the game off of Gamefaqs, and it says after talking to whoever at the guild I'm supposed to go to the Melder place to buy quartz. Now, I spoke to the lady behind the counter, but is there someone else? Because, when I went to the Melder place, no matter what I clicked I couldn't buy anything. (And in all honesty, I had no idea what it was I was supposed to buy, having no knowledge of Japanese).
2. Could someone give me a breif rundown of the games story, just so I know why the character's are doing what they're doing? And possibly some character names?
3. Lastly, I've heard mention of a sequel or something. Is this true?

Hello! Welcome! I have only played through the game once, and I don't know Japanese, but what city are you in? Did you just start? I am sending a private message with a synopsis of the game's story that was generously given to me by the member known as freakman. Don't read too far ahead! When I was stuck in the game, I just walked around and talked to everyone, and did everything I possibly could, and it always worked out for me. Be patient with it. There is definitely a sequel coming, on March 9, 2006. Read a little about it here in this thread: www.seldane.proboards23.com/index.cgi?board=falcom&action=display&thread=1132838231

Okay.. I got a bit further, but I'm still stuck at the very start. Here's an exerpt from the gamefaqs guide.
"Enter the Bracer's Guild and meet Scherazard. She'll explain how the orbment works. In Melder's Factory, first buy all quartz available (2nd menu), then go in your orbment menu and fill all your characters' slots with at least one quartz. Once you're done, talk to Scherazard and she'll give you enough sepiths to buy another slot for Joshua or Estelle. Fill this new slot with a quartz and talk to Schera again."
I just bought all of the quarts, and I tried talking to the woman again, but she just repeats the same thing over and over, and doesn't give me any more sepiths.

I didn't give details in my faq for this because I thought it was evident and no one will be stuck here.

Erm. Okay. >> I'm trying to do the first sidequest mentioned in the guide, but I'm not sure which NPC is Karel. I've spoken to everyone behind Melners Factory, but noone has triggered anything to let me examine the sewer by the bakery.

Alright, I deleted my previous post as it wasn't necessary and didn't make sense. Sorry about that. I believe you're looking for the shiny piece that fell into the sewer, right? Man, I don't know which one Karel is. I would go back and talk to everyone in town and make sure you have examined every other sewer in town. This is the best I can do right now. I'm sorry if it does not help. It has been over a year since I played this part. There are other members here who are much more skilled at the story elements of the game than me. I hope they can help you a little more than I can. Keep trying!

Hey, I finished the game, and what I can do is tell you how I went about changing slots & orbment for the characters:
Every time you go into your orbment menu and you want to equip characters with a certain color, be sure to watch what special attacks or abilities appear in the character's list. I chose what color stones to put where based on the different abilities it gave the characters. I could not read the names of the abilities, so I experimented and used the ones that had abilities which required a high usage of points.
For example, if I put a red stone into Joshua's fourth slot, and it game him more HP, I left it there. If I got a new character such as Klose, and liked the way her abilities were organized when she first came into the party, then I did not mess with her too much.
The higher the points required to use the ability, the better the ability is. Don't be afraid to test abilities out when you give a character a new color stone in a new slot. Ability colors:
If I remember correctly, Blue is for healing and defense, Red is for fire attacks Green is for wind attacks & defense Yellow is for lightning attacks Earth I didn't use the silver & gold abilities too much.
Keep in mind I don't know Japanese. I finished the game with A LOT of hard work on my own over a year ago and this is the very best I can do. I hope this helps!

Thanx very much!! more or less I'd understood, but I thought was important put the stone in one precise sequence. 4 example: Joshua: ALL red stones, or first BLUE stone, then RED, and last GREEN... So, I'm free to put the stones how I want. thanx! Gianluca

Yes, that's it, put a stone wherever you feel it benefits that character. I hope I wasn't confusing.

well.... yesterday evening, I make a little progress in ED6 , but now i'm blocked! I'm near the end (so I hope...) and I have to enter the Water Way (east side) and reach the big "=". Ok, very good the map of the waterway but.....where is my position in the map? And how can I avoid the blue monsters that randomly kill me with one and only shot? I HATE this..... help me before I launch from the window my PC!

You are getting there! A little patience. I know exactly where you are. Here is what I did in the waterway. I just took it slow. As far as I know there is no way to track your movement in the game but to just observe for yourself. Start from the begining of the waterway if you have to. The map is dead on accurate. Just keep checking it at every turn you take. You have to look for that secret passage. Try your best to sneak past the monsters. I know they get tough in there.

The second one is Hidden Leaf, and it'll make it so enemies /don't/ fight you if you run into them. If you have either of those in your inventory, they should help you out a lot if the monsters are giving you troubles. That's awesome! I didn't know about those abilities! I even experimented a lot, but I just don't know Japanese. Thanks for that info!

If I remember correctly, you can only get the weapons after some more events. Just keep going through the main scenario and try going to the cafe every time.
