Doesn't matter how much he tries to prevent people from pirating it. It's a futile effort, and a waste of time (as with EVERY anti-piracy attempt!). Ironically enough, I believe the YsF English patch has contributed to the piracy of YsF by a very, very large amount. For a long time, the pre-patched YsF game was one of the most popular PC torrents on Blackcats Games (one of the biggest gaming torrent websites). It can also be seen on pretty much any torrent site in the world.

It can also be seen on pretty much any torrent site in the world. I don't want to reopen a discussion that many prefer to forget, BUT... I think that doing this way the final quality of the patch and the work done will be ruined. Also being anti-piracy and whining about losing donations (that are things people have the option to do or not) which are not something to count on in first place, is not the best and coherent thing to do. I don't blame him, I undestand his points in the argument (also the not legal, but moral thing), I agree with part of what he said and I don't agree with another part but it's also not right to offend many people with biases or to blame only the so called "butt-pirate" for the patch to not come out. Also I think that an English patch can bring more legit buyer than the ones that can stole. Very few people will buy a game that won't understand and I'm one of them (so the other are few people - me, even fewer). I think that even piracy didn't do a great job to make Falcom games famous cause they are in fact still unknown to too many people. Probably Falcom didn't even feel the effect of the piracy because it didn't have that segment of market in first place. They make games only for japanese people. I bought their games because I found out how to order from them (at an high shipping price) and I like them but I still think that if they don't expect to gain income from foreign people and still do game without translation, they can't expect that people really pay for their games. Also piracy is a matter of many things. Just a look to Stardock and Galactic Civilization II to know what I mean. This is not to support or blame piracy but to give another perspective.

Indeed. And in some cases, it actually loses sales to piracy. Look at Bioshock. Once people found out it had SecuROM, you should have seen the 2k boards light up with threads about how crappy it was for them to put SecuROM in, and how so many people were either not going to buy it anymore and pirate it, or take back their current unsealed copies and pirate it. People will pirate, this is just a fact of the computer software world. There will always be pirates for varying reasons -- some don't feel software prices are reasonable, some simply don't want to pay for something they'll only play once, and some simply don't have the money to go buying every game they want. I'm sure some people will see me in a negative light for saying this but, I am in the latter category. I am a pizza delivery driver. I make enough to pay my bills in my paycheck, and whatever I make in tips goes towards the fun stuff. I will wholly admit, I was sent a pirated rar of YsF long, long before I knew about this whole "butt-pirate leaker" drama, and I played it, and loved it. It was actually my first Ys game, and had I not played that pirated version oh so many months ago, guess what? I can guaran-damn-tee you that I would not have that pretty YsF box, Origin with the art book, Ys VI and Ys I&II Complete from that awesome Falcom sale, because I still wouldn't know what the hell Ys is. Hell, I have a friend on MSN who bashes me for buying the games because (I also note that he's an idiot, but this is how most casual gamers these days are) "sales make a better game so Ys must suck because nobody buys it or knows what it is." No, Ys does not suck and these are some of the best damn games I have ever played. But this is to prove a point, and that point is that contrary to what the wonderful NightWolve thinks, piracy can be a good thing, as it was in this scenario. And tbh, I don't want to offend Deuce and he seems to be quite a bit more.... mature and rational on this subject than NightWolve but... why does the leaker change anything? All it means is that a lot of people got to play the unfinished product. Square-Enix gets FFXII leaked a month before the game is released, but do they suddenly scream "YOU VALID CUSTOMERS AREN'T GETTING IT FOREVER NOW BECAUSE SOMEONE LEAKED IT! D:<" This irritates me because it is extremely illogical and has no rationale that I can see. Again, I am NOT attacking you Deuce, because I haven't really seen you lash out with such a childish mentality. All I've really seen is your sig that says "pending code changes, you can thank the leaker for that", and considering that you don't do the code (to my knowledge), I'm pretty sure my rant doesn't apply to you whatsoever. In the end, it seems that NightWolve just got butthurt that his patch got leaked and decided it would be a cool idea to deprive everyone else of an enjoyable experience, which is nothing short of base and infantile. tl;dr, piracy is what got me into Ys and got me to buy it in the first place, and Nightwolve seems to be a jerk. ESPECIALLY if that hongfire fiasco is true. Apologies for going off-topic.

Yeah, that's the artbook that is packaged with the SnK The 3rd limited edition box.
Eh, not bad for a non-end-of-year special offer.

Minor correction, the SC in this offer is Vista compatible. I think they've ran out of non-vista versions seen as my copy from the last offer was a Vista one too.

For those people who like to bookmark Nihon Falcom's Special Offer webpage for quick access, it has a slightly changed URL and design. And the rest of the online shop's cosmetic changes and interface are much better too. No more scrolling endlessly to find the item you want.

Just out of interest, does anyone know if Falcom have ever done a Legend of Heroes 3, 4 and 5 special offer set? Those and Ys I & II Complete are the only Falcom developed Windows games I need.

Sidenote1: is it ok if I post the new Falcom offers with link where's avaible like I've done lately? I simply update a thread in an Italian Forum with new falcom offer so I tought I could do it here also. Sidenote2: lately I didn't got mail when someone replied to this thread. It's only my problem or is a common issue?
