Oh, that's mean! X) I'll have to get whatever I can out of that, separately.

Damn it!!!! I've been waiting for an Ys Origin special offer, but I just bought YsF like a week or two ago. ://// Could have basically got YsF for free if I went with this deal plus a soundtrack to boot.

Same things happened to me some years ago, but i've learned, always wait for an offer if you planning to get other games in the future. However the real problem is the shipping cost, I would buy more if it wasn't just about half of what I pay for an order.

Can't believe I almost missed this! I had some gut feeling I needed to check these boards today even though I'm in an exam flood. The wait was definitely worth it, it's a good deal. The Super Arrange soundtrack should be great too, if I'm to believe the hype-topic about that cd

This is such an insane deal! I ordered it right away. I was actually going to go buy Dinosaur Resurrection and Gurumin later this month, so this is like getting four games for free, plus those soundtracks!!!

Wow! Very quick shipping! I got this package today... no cool surprise bonuses, but I can't complain about getting five PC games for the price of one (even if I do already have one of them).
I've played them all a little bit.
Dinosaur Resurrection seems totally awesome. I love dungeon crawlers like Wizardry, etc, and the atmosphere and music are both fantastic. The combat is extremely fast, too... love it
Gurumin seems like it will be fun. I just started it and walked around to make sure my PC can handle the game. It's a little jerky in the town at the highest settings, so I might play around with the graphics options and see if I can't get the framerate a little more stable. My only complaint other than that is there aren't a lot of resolution choices. No 1024x768 for instance, which is the native res of my LCD. So the game looks a little blurry sadly.
VM Japan w/ power up kit is not really my kind of game. I bought it for the PS2 a while ago (it was only $7) and kept thinking, "this would be a lot better on the PC." Well, anyway, now I have it on the PC (along with the power up kit). I think I would like it more if it had some sort of empire management portion. I mean, I love the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series in how you can nice tactical combat as well as city/kingdom management. From what I can tell VM Japan is just tactical combat... kind of weird.
Ys Oath LE is cool I guess. I already have the rerelease in the smaller box and it's an awesome game. However, I am pretty excited about all the soundtracks... Ys III has the best soundtrack in the series and it will be fun listening to all the different versions included in the box!!
Gensou Sangokushi 2 was kind of a weird inclusion. Why not the first game? I feel strange starting out with the second game in a series. Has anyone played these games?

I have Genso Sangokushi 2 - they're pretty self-contained so there's no need to play any of them in order, as they all feature different main characters. Great game, loads of fun.

Well, I was also interested in getting the special but I already have YsF, Gurumin and I definitely do not want to play Genso Sangokushi. I only wanted Dinosaur and VM Japan.
And I absolutely do not want to go near any Genso Sangokushi game because it's actually a port of a CHINESE pc game. I wonder if any of you knew this. Maybe, maybe not.
I wash my hands off chinese pc games because they simply suck or are just inferior to Japanese games. I used to play some of them in the past but just got bored by them because I was never into Chinese folklore. I was surprised that Falcom actually ported Genso into Japanese. (Yeah, even though I'm chinese in blood, I'm a little biased against them)
And if you must know, the original chinese company that made Genso has already made 4 games in the Genso series, so you're missing out on Genso 3 and 4. If you like the Genso games, then you gotta know chinese if you want to play the new ones or wait for Falcom to port them into Japanese. I suppose its likely since Falcom already ported the first 2.

Well, the Koreans have good character design. Falcom did port one pretty good Korean game a few years back. It was The Rhapsody of Zephyr. I played the chinese translated version of it before I knew Falcom ported it in 1999.
For an Asian PC RPG, it was way ahead of its time then in terms of graphics and gameplay.
The only regret I have is that I never completed the game because the damn chinese port was buggy. I guess I might try to hunt for Falcom's port one of these days.
AFAIK, Arcturus is also a Korean game ported by Falcom. Haven't played it so not sure if it's good or not.

I played a little Gensosangokushi 2 yesterday. Didn't really play enough to get into it (just wanted to see what it was like) but it does seem to feel somehow substandard in quality. The intro seems to use FMV or something because the image quality gets all grainy and artifacty and the frame rate suddenly drops to somewhere in the 25-30 fps range. But the FMV looks no different from the actual in game graphics! Also, there is a part in the intro where two people are having some kind of magic battle in the air yet there are no sound effects other than a really cheesy "HA HA HA HA HA" a couple of times.
What kind of game is it exactly? It's hard to judge by the intro.

It's a Chinese game. You gotta be Chinese to understand that their concept of fantasy is a bunch of martial artists dressed up in ancient Chinese mythology clothing and flying around summoning weird magic from their fists and fighting with swords that fly using some kind of pseudo telekinesis. Oh and yeah sometimes they get to fly up in the clouds amongst the mountains and summon mythical creatures to do their bidding. And they laugh when they are fighting each other. Sometimes, especially when they are both male, are middle aged and are the archnemesis of each other. Then they'll go "Haha, we meet again my archnemesis of 20 years, this is the 100th time we're fighting and it's still a tie between us. Let us fight to our hearts' content. Again. Mwahahaha" If you've watched the Forbidden Kingdom... then you're halfway there... maybe just 1/3 way. Well I'm just being sarcastic but there's some truth in what I say.

Well anime wannabe or not, at least Korean artists surpass Chinese ones. You can't deny the success of some Korean manga and games in Japan. Not to mention animation companies employ a hell lot of Korean animators.
If you want examples of decent Korean character designs, I vote for Magna Carta.

I understand Chinese fantasy, I was just surprised at the total lack of sound effects during the battle, slow framerate (for an FMV?!) and general low quality. I shouldn't have been surprised I guess, after reading your post about how poor Chinese games are!

Well, I'm not disagreeing with you guys really. I guess maybe I'm Asian-chinese and I have different preferences and preconceptions as opposed to most of you westerners. Of course I don't speak for the general Asian populace per se. Just my own rant really.
Artwork in GS2 is just too Chinesey for my taste. Ironic isn't it. I prefer the Japanese kimono to the Chinese cheongsam any day.

Hehe, you guys need a third opinion? I love all the Ys Artwork but the in-game designs of ED6 are a bit too standard for me. But the cover arts of ED6 and ED6 3rd are awesome. Now, I like the art of Xanadu the least because it's not anime-ish enough.

Yeah, the Xanadu Next artwork sucks, because it's not generic enough.
