Hi! I've been watching your board for a long time, always wondering id Ys was a good game...
I bought Ys 6 Arc of Nephitims yesterday and I'm currently in love with the game. However, I'm a story freak and I would love to play the first two... (I heard by a lot that it's better than the 6).
What are the best version of the first 2 games that I could obtain and play in english... Unfortunatly I don't know japanese... I'm starting japanese this year yet I don't want to wait 3 or 4 years to play the games...

the best 2 in english you can get are Ys 1 and 2 Complete for the PC the english patches are avaiable for part 1 and part 2 is getting there. also the Turbo Grafx CD version of Ys 1 &2 is very good, by the way welcome to the site i hope you enjoy your time here.

hey man welcome to the board...jsut a little hint...play the japanese versions anyways...you will play all the english ver you can and when you are done you WILL say to yourself...damn i need more Ys

Thanks for the cool welcome and the infos, I just ordered Y's 1 & 2 complete from Himeya and should get them in 7-10 days... (I can't wait... I got the 6 but I prefer playing games in their right order  Btw, what are the other games that I can get in english... I know justinzero just told me to get them in japanese yet I could never enjoy a games to it's fullest if I couldn't understand the story...  I'll probably get them anyway... I'll just wait until I finish the first two.  |

Although most of the faqs for Ys games are really good about telling the story at the same time. Trust me you will love the japanese versions just as much.

I guess I'll have to try them then... I'll play the english version first and then find a way to get the best version.
Grrrrrrr I still have 6-8 days to wait until I get Ys 1 and 2 and I already finished Ys 6 at nightmare difficulty...

I just wanted to say welcome and you won't be disappointed playing the import versions, I thought I would be too, but after Ys I & II Eternal, and Ys VI, I went on to become an import maniac. Legend of Xanadu I & II, Legend of Heroes II and VI, and Final Fantasy III are but a few of the games I have enjoyed in Japanese since I started playing import games. If I only would have gotten a computer sooner....  Also good luck with the book. I'm currently in the middle of several comic book projects I'm working on, hopefully they'll be published some day. |

Tanks for the comments... although I'm taking it slow, I'm only at the beginning of chapter 3.  The truth is I'm writing it for the fun of it... I made a good story so I thought: "Why not write it?" It's good if it ends up being published yet it's not the goal. My friends already promised me to read it all when it's finished so at least it'll be read. Good luck on your comic books!
