Well, you could certainly play through from start to finish, but generally a lot of the joy and subtlety in the plot comes through the dialogue, not what's animated on screen. SC has a FAQ on GameFAQs that contains chapter synopsis, but it's the only game to have anything like that for it and it's only covers the most basic stuff.
I really don't want to put anyone off, because I love them to bits but it's a story-driven RPG not a gameplay-driven one and it irks me a bit when you see posts in random places saying "Well, these two kids went off, and their dads some important general, and later on this guy with a guitar shows up and he has this WICKED super move...". Eh, you know what I mean :/

I can't believe I'm asking but, is it even at all practical to play this trilogy without fluency in Japanese? I'm sure I could figure out the battle system gameplay quickly but since these titles in particular are so heavy on the story I imagine it's practically like missing half (or more) of the game? It's possible, but yeah, the story and characters are most of the reason the game is so good, so you'd be missing a whole lot. So yeah, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I just recently purchased a Sora no Kiseki trilogy box set and I'm really looking forward to playing them, even if the first time through will be in Japanese. I'm excited to know that there seems to be several people who are either currently working on it or have started progress on it in the past. It would be great if somehow everyone could work together on it so that some of that progress that has already been made by older groups isn't completely lost, but that might just be one of those "Perfect World" situations. : )
Still, if there is anything that I can do to help out, especially on the graphical side of things, I'd certainly be more than willing to help out. I'm just happy to be seeing progress updates and youtube video demos.

There's always the extreme lame way, that is playing the game and using AGTH to rip the text and use Atlas to translate. Of course this is playing the game with even crappier translation then the Bandai release LOH.

Wow! I've never heard of that before. That AGTH sounds pretty great to me, especially if I need to look up a specific character. Thanks for suggesting that program Zoelius.
