Hi everyone, I forgot to introduce myself ^^;; I'm Dahlia, and I admit I'm not a big RPG fan, but that's only because Ys totally eclipsed all other RPGs I've played. I've played part of FFVIII, Chrono Trigger and some other miscellaneous games that uses numerous lists of CRAP. I mean, you can't even focus on your game, you're just looking through endless lists of moves and attacks. It's a huge waste of time! I mean, graphics can be nice, but you're totally missing the essence of actually BEING that character. Sorry, gunna edit this, I ended up repeating myself in another thread. Anyway, I'm 21 from Montreal Canada, and majoring Graphic Design. I make weblayouts and take pics of myself (I know that's so narcistic) in my spare time and used to draw anime. I'm somewhat of an anime fan, but I haven't seen anything new since Hikaru no Go. Dir en grey is my favorite Jrock band and nothing will ever change that unless they suddenly turned to crap. I'm into Japanese culture if you can say so, but I don't like seafood (that means x-ing out 98% of all Japanese foods). And if you need to know more, you can visit my website dahlia.araganor.net/

Hi Dahlia Hehe, take pictures of yourself? In what ways? lol Nevermind that, just wanted to sound funny Well, the essence of RPG is to actully have a chance to create an succsefull attack or "limit break" whitout having yourself killed meanwhile... Anime? Seen GundamW or such anytime?

Hello, Dahlia (again). Glad to see you posting. Many members just show up and then dissapear. I am impressed by your drawing/photographing/webdesigning skills. I browsed your pages and they are looking very nice. I wish I could do such things. Heh.
Din en grey, eh? The name sounds familiar, but I don't think I have heard them. Perhaps something to look at? Yes. The Ys games are a lot more "playable" than other RPGs, most RPGs tend to get boring in the long run. I quit playing Chrono trigger after getting the Masamune, and I never really liked the FF series. I can never get enough of Ys though. I have played YsI endless times and finished almost every version that's out there. Notify me if you are interested in getting some. (I recommend the X68000 version, check out the thread in the YsI forum).

Zechs, yeah I never really quite understood the whole limit break concept thing. It goes way beyond my head, hehe.
As for anime, I've heard of GundamW and watched Endless Waltz a few years ago, I'm afraid to say that that movie didn't make much sense to me since I haven't seen the series. I'm not much into guy-ish anime I'm afraid, lol. Like Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing and all that, not really my thing. Though I do like Trigun and Rurouni Kenshin (the manga of course is way better since they had two seasons of FILLER episodes on TV after the Kyoto Arc, talk about disappointing. I eventually finished reading it though). The animes I've watch have been:
Fushigi Yuugi, Kareshi no Kanojo to Jijou, Hikaru no Go, Fruits Basket, Legend of Basara, most of Gensomaden Saiyuki, Weiss Kreuz, parts of Prince of Tennis, half of Records of Lodoss War, Ayashi no Ceres, Marmalade Boy, Sailor Moon (yes I know, hehe) and Angel Sanctuary.
And I think that's about it. Many of the animes don't have a definite ending, and you'd have to follow the manga for that, which I'm currently doing so for Basara, Fruits Basket and Hikaru no Go. Angel Sanctuary is by far the most complex storyline with the best artwork, if you're open to taboo subjects, extreme violence, and blasphemous portraits of the Christian religion, than this manga is for you! haha. But my current favorite is Fruits Basket, it's nice and sweet, but I don't think you guys would like it though ^^;
Seldane, if you want to check out Dir en grey, I have a shrine set up called "Euphoria", and it has a bunch of audio samples from each of their albums if you want to give them a try. But the video games will have to wait, as I am currently procrastinating in getting some projects done for this final week of school. Wish me luck, cause I know I be's going to Hell T_T

Yes I'm an avid "point and click" fan of adventure games. Unfortunately, not many companies make those games anymore. Lucasart being one of them, BUT they're coming out with a new Sam&Max Freelance Police game, the sequel to their first one that came out 10 yrs ago. I can't wait for it, it's coming out in May 2004!! I love the classic adventure games from Lucasart, truly a dying genre. My brother's getting me The Grim Fandango for xmas ^_^ I also like Sierra type city building games like Pharoah. But nothing like Warcraft, which is more about strategies than actual city building and development. Games I truly like to play are one on one combat games like Dead or Alive 3 and the likes, I'm an avid button masher, who cares about strategies! Soul Caliber 2 looks pretty cool to play, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet.

Point and click games, eh? My brother (Stefan) likes those a lot. Sierra, Lucasarts, etc. I don't like them too much myself, Myst, however, is a series that I do like.
Fighting games? I am a big fan of the Street fighter series, but that's about all. And Warcraft 2 is fun too. I haven't played Warcraft 3, though.

Oh! you make me happy Dahlia "point and click games" are as Seldane mentioned my absolute favorite game genre, funny to hear that other people like it too. And you are (sadly) right, they don't do that kind of games anymore. I try to get an old game as often as i can. Sierra did a lot of games a couple of years ago like Phantasmagoria and Lighthouse.

I've played the first Myst game and finished (barely, that game was pretty hard) and I didn't play Riven but I bought Exile and after like 2 hrs of playtime, I had no clue what the hell I was doing. So I gave up on it ^^;; And all I ever need in Street Fighter is Chun Li, cause she kicks ass XD I like watching other people play games like Warcraft, most because I find the animation very cute and endearing ^^;; Dune 2000 was pretty cool to watch too, with the sandworms and the spice harvesting.
Another old school point and click puzzle game was The 7th Guest, which I really liked, but it was pretty freaky to play it alone in the dark back in the days, gave me serious goosebumps. I saw someone play Phantasmagoria and it was soooo...well, gory. Very graphic stuff, I wasn't really too fond of it. Forcing someone to eat raw meat through a funnel stuck down your throat just so you can kill her isn't very appealing to me o.O;; I can't say I play PC games very much, they're pretty expensive nowadays, now I just get freebie unopened handme down PC games that my brother buys in abundance. I mean he gave me The Curse of Monkey Island and he likes that series <.<;;

point and click? Get a NES and play shadowgate and uninvited, they are classics. Kings quest series is very point and click oriented and so is X-COM UFO Defense for the PC and playstation.

He's got a NES with Shadowgate and that other one.... What is it called? That game where you are some kind of private agent. But I don't really think that is the same thing. And Dahlia, I agree. Myst III is a tough one. I got frustrated and threw the CD in the wall after just some playing. I finished the first world, but the next one was IMPOSSIBLE. I even checked a walkthrough (actually, three) but none of them helped. I really, really enjoyed Riven, though. EDIT: Oh, I'm sorry Dracula. I actually wrote MY post inside yours. I actually edited it instead of quoting it. The buttons are on the same place. Well, I fixed it. That's why it says EBS on the bottom.

If you want a good game(it doesnt fall into any categoy imo) get planescape: torment. It is probably the best computer game Ive ever played(of course I havent played Ys VI )
