There are many different versions of YsIII, even though most of them are pretty much the same. But anyway, which one is your favorite?

Snes. I love it. The musics roxx. MSX2 version is quite cool for its difficulty and its very good graphics too !

I have my own MSX2 but my favorite emulator is NLMSX. (I never tried Bluemsx and paramsx but they both look quite good)

I ´ve played the snes and the genesis-version. for me the genesis-version is the best one because of the great sound and the better drawings and it also has better names of the different places (snes: tiguari quari /genesis: tiger mine). I LOVE YS3

Yeah, but reading that translation makes my Eyes BLEED. Talk about an overly literal translation. Oy.
Still I wonder why the Genesis version used Kenai and Demanicus and the like as well. I had figured it was just an NEC bout of wackiness until I played the gen version recently. Gah those names drive me nuts.
Ah well, at least we got the damn game.

SPOILER FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T PLAYED Ys 6...
Maybe Demanicus is his individual name, since he's a Galbalan(I think that's how you spell it) aka ash Emel. It is strange that they both used that name, so, maybe? Hmm, maybe we'll find out in Oath in Felgahna?

TG16 JPN version - the music is just awesome, even compared to games now. It made the otherwise overly simplistic gameplay an enjoyable experience.

Hmmm, tough call. I like the gameplay and graphics better in the Genesis game, but the music (obviously) better in the Turbo CD version. Although, they took the amazing VA job from Ys Books I & II and BUTCHERED it, leaving Ys III with some of the worst VA ever.
SNES version...? A far third compared to the other two, in my opinion.

Ys 1 & 2 for some reason must've had a bigger budget, since they got professional voice actors from Transformers, GI Joe & the like. Ys 3, must've just had a bunch of NEC employees, to save money on the budget, so they could make more?

TG-16CD version all the way. Better music and character design. It might only be my imagination but in some story cuts the character designs for Adol and Dogi in the SNES version makes them look like pinheads....

OMG! I can't believe just one person voted on the PS2 version!!! That version is just too good! (The ONLY bad thing is the game's intro. It looked like it was done in paint. ) More people should know the PS2 version. It rocks! Overall it overpasses every version by a lot in my opinion: The music, GAMEPLAY, the voice acting, everything. The PCE version has a better "Valestine Castle" theme though (in my opinion). Well, now there are 2 votes for the PS2 v. =D

I think Ys 3 for PS2 is definitely better than any other version of Ys 3, I also think it is a much better game than YsF.

Unfortunatelly I didn't play Ys OiF YET (I have the game, it is just that I'm waiting for its translation). So I can't say whether YsOiF or Ys III for PS2 is better. I gotta wait. : )
Anyway, man...I just CAN'T understand why you see Ys III through that way wyrdwad. The game is "fast" enough to not get bothered (unlike other Taito's titles). Also this game has difficulty setting, which no other Ys III version had. Also there is the Boss Rush mode when you beat the game, and again, no other Ys III version had this feature. Also there is the sound test option, which no other version of the game had. Also the game had voice acting and the gameplay is superior as a matter of fact (There are combos, and the Up attack did multiple hits. Those are the improvements in the gameplay which I noticed). Also the music...OMG, when I listened to a certain part of the Valestine Castle Theme for the first time, my heart stopped to pumb for a moment, really. I felt so emotionated that I could feel my heart "died" for a second due to the music's awesomeness. That part of the music overpasses the PCE version of Valestine Castle (I prefer the PCE version of that music just overall). So, for me, the soundtrack is at least very good indeed.
Also the swords attacks' colors change. I just don't know if it is the sword you use or if it is your level which determines the colors.
