Meh. Square Haters. FFX is a decent game with a decent story. I think there are things they could have, and should have done differently but I haven't finished the game to see the ending yet. And don't discount Dragon Quest VIII, which I'm thoroughly enjoying. It too is Square-Enix, as is Kingdom Hearts I and II (Which I haven't played through yet but do have). The Final Fantasy universe is what it is. I will admit, I'm not sure I like the direction they're going with the next 2 games. While FFXII looks like a good game with a potentally great story. However, it has too much of an MMO feel to it - I don't like that after playing through the demo and honestly hope some of that changes. As annoying as random encounters are, I prefer having them up to a point. Like in Dragon Slayer when you had random encounters (of a sort.. they were really invisible mobs) until you got an item where you could see them running around on the world map. FFXIII looks phoenominal but radically different than any other FF series game. The jury is still out on this one. They obviously have a fanbase. Good game or not. Of course, you don't HAVE to play them www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/Itemsearch.asp

DQ8 is a totally different story
That game was like it's telling the other games "hey you call yourself an RPG?"
Kinda like how Zelda and Ys PWNS the KH series (take out the fan service and you got a bland game....well yeah I bought it for the fan service but once all is said and done, one would realize the crappiness within).
Spend wisely guys - buy REAL games You don't buy music coz the singer has big boobs

You mute the videos for that. =D
Also, in vague sorta-response to Markus, I maintain that FFX-2 is five times the game and the awesome as FFX.

I haven't played KH2 yet, but I liked the first one, and my friend and sister absolutely loved the second one. I like the music too...Ah well, it doesn't really matter what I like. It still bugs me when my friend said that 'story' wise Sora could beat Sephiroth. He's just a hidden boss. I don't like final fantasy much, and I hate the newer installments that have come out, but some video game villains should be respected in some way. Like Ghaleon from Lunar. Now that was a hatable villain.

Unfotunately, I had to put FFX down because of a minor detail - the sphere grid. I had all these Lvl1-2 key spheres, but couldn't figure out how to use them. Then my friend showed me how to zoom in on the sphere grid and see where they went. So I get to look forward to lots of mundane fights to get my S Levels up to correct that. That's right, I've gotten up to and beaten the Weendigo with nothing more than lvl 1 stuff I'm so embarassed. But I laughed last night when I got the Hoodwink in DQ8 for my monster group. Having lost miserably for my first ranking, he annihalated everything and I went up 2 rankings last night lol (monster arean is an awesome touch, Ragazzo!)

The only thing I didn't like about FF X was Uematsu's lack of involvement in more of the soundtrack. Other than that, I loved the heck out of that game. The sphere grid was ingenious to me. I am a big FF nut though. The only ones in the regular series I haven't finished besides XI is III, and X-2. I own the Famicom cart for III but it was a lot more complex for me to play in Japanese, so I havne't played it in a while. I am eagerly awaiting the DS version. I am now playing Dragon Quest VIII and Shadow Hearts, those are awesome too. Nothing beats Ys for me though. That will always be my favorite of all time.
Funny story, I bought Advent Children the day it came out and I still haven't watched it!!!! I have so many hobbies and things I love doing I just haven't done it yet.

FF3 is a really, really good game... I played the fan-translated NES rom of it, actually, and I was blown away by how ahead of its time it was. The DS port should be interesting. -Tom DS ... PORT? I agree, I also played the FC version a long time ago. I loved it! And I don't really like Final Fantasy/turn based RPGs! Wow... "FF7AC : The "I GOT IT!" Thread"

"You don't buy music coz the singer has big boobs" Hey, speak for yourself! (Sorry, but I had to!) -Tom Does "bounce bounce" and "wiggle wiggle" sound like Mozart to you? Not to mention lyrics that are mostly about sex "I'm gonna do you baby" "gonna rock your body" "my hump my hump my hump!!!" "take off all your clothes!!!" LOL Well video game-wise, would you buy a crappy crappy game for flashy fmvs? The trick is, if you reduce their graphics to the level of something that looks totally dated but really really phenomenal in gameplay quality.... well you'll be the judge. Well I guess it somehow work. I bought Advent Children coz I'm a Final Fantasy fan (particularly 7) and it's something I would enjoy watching with my FF fan friends^^

No I said that because it certainly isn't a port, it is a remake. I feel like I have to correct everyone who mistake the two, ha ha. Play Xanadu Next... awesome shadows, awesome game.

Haven: I was joking! Sheesh!! Heheheheheh... Damn I was afraid you wouldn't notice the LOL Sheeeesh ^^ Anyway think the "remake" of FF3 would have an old school feel? Or would it be bastardized by modernization?

Ahh. I dunno, graphical and musical updates alone do not a remake make, IMHO. And to my knowledge, Square isn't actually adding any new CONTENT to the game -- they're just giving it a makeover. So as far as I'm concerned, it's really just a port. Actually, a port is basically converting the same game to another platform. This game has remade graphics (3D), remade maps (not tile based), remade music, remade game system, etc. I'm sure that they didn't reuse any code from the original game whatsoever. Everything's been remade -- hence, it is a remake. Would you call The Oath in Felghana a port of YsIII?

Well, I finally got around to watching this thing. I loved it! Being a Final Fantasy verteran, it had a lot of what I had hoped to see. I can't complain, I was totally into it. I did want to see more of everything, though, like summoned monsters, and more air time for some of the other characters, but I am very pleased with their work. I just wanted it to be longer. It was nice to see a little closure brought into the FF VII world. For me, it is something I will go back to and watch again and again.
I think with this movie they set out to put together a big "thank you" to the fans. In that respect, they succeeded.

Bah. I didn't hear any thanks. Heheheheheh... -Tom Hahahaha! The movie brought out the fan in me bigtime. It was pretty much fan service the whole movie, as I remember Wyrdwad saying. I wish they would remake FF VII now. There was a lot of stuff I admired, like the direction and the evolved character designs. Too bad it takes so long to turn movies like this out.

Personally, I'd prefer to see a new game altogether.
Then again, importers tell me good things about XII...

From what I hear, the demo doesn't do it justice at all.
