I'm going, who else is?
The AWA guest list isn't spectacular; the main reason I'm going is to hang out with friends so if there's anyone here planning to attend, yay we can chill!

I used to attend every year for many years. The last one I went to was in 2002. I live so close to this. Maybe I will check it out.

why do people promote only US conventions here, I live in Europe, don't expect to see me there.
ps: I remember making a topic with a long list of anime conventions all over the world.

In short: God hates Europe. What with the Inquisitions and all.

Yeah, I saw that before, but I didn't feel his one "maybe" response changed the odds much. I'm attending the Play game concert in Toronto the week after Anime Weekend Atlanta. That's the only thing holding me up. So if I spend money at AWA Toronto may not be so fun. Still a maybe.

I guess no one but me's going I guess. ^^;; I'm on the west coast, I'm just heading over east since I got an invite from a good friend to attend with her. Well Adol, if you're hitting up an event in Europe, nothing should stop you from asking if anyone else is going. Just look at the Lost Member of Hanson here if you ever feel like you're the only European here.

Well I live in Georgia, just north of Atlanta and was planning on going but Anime Weekend Atlanta kind of snuck up on me this year. I have friends that are attending it even I'm typing this, but I'm afraid the weekend is already shot to be able to make it down there.
My girlfriend and I have been interested in attending another AWA since she's never been to an animecon before. I haven't been to AWA in years however ever since they started to shun cosplay contests and such. Perhaps things have improved since then. I was very much into cosplay at the time and the staff of AWA pulled a stunt that I haven't quite forgiven that cost about half of the cos-players to miss their entrance and judging due to a miss-informed time arrival switch... which seemed at the time to be purposely done. It's a shame too since I had worked hard on the development of a full-body Lynx costume from Chrono Cross that cost me around $200 to make. At least I got to eventually have it judged at Katsucon which is overall a better convention and cosplay friendly. Now that's a con I'd like to attend again one of these days.

What really kept me going to AWA was the abundance of game music that was available. Back then I didn't have a computer, and AWA had a great supply of game soundtracks. Last time I attended, a few years ago, the game music selections had dwindled. Then I went online, and started buying soundtracks from other places, and just never made it to attend another AWA.
I will never forget attending the cel painting workshop at AWA hosted by Steve Bennett though. I thought it was awesome that a guy who actually worked on Urusei Yatsura gave everyone at the workshop individual attention and critiques as they painted.

Steve Bennet for the WIN!!! That guy completely rocks.
The dealer's room was kind of mheh this year. Artists Ally was pretty big, but it doesn't look like you guys are into that at all. Very little in the way of game related merchendise but I picked up an unusual Shining Tears capsul fig. I didn't think ST would get any merchendise! I was pretty suprised!
I ended up just cosplaying and taking inane photos of friends/getting retarded arse photos of moi taken(although this was a lot rarer.)

Just what I was going to say! Also, was House of Anime there? I have known them for a long time. They used to do an anime songs radio show after AWA.

Ha ha ha, I'm flattered by that misspelling. (If it is a misspelling, that is.) Wow. It's not even 7AM. Yeah, I typo'd. I was not able to get my mum's amazing 7 megapixel digicam for the trip, but I did find a site TEEEEEEEMING with pictures from the event. I found a number of my friends there too. CLICKY!!!Those are some great costumes, thanks for the link. Are you in any of those pictures?
