I think, here must be this poll too. My least favourite is X68000 (DEMPA). Maybe, gameplay is rather good, but WHERE'S ANIME?!! Ys always was an anime game with beautyful pictures. And in this version we just see dark and ugly photo stills.

Insanity! Well, I agree in some ways. The game is .... weird, and I do not like the portraits. But I do like that it's no anime in it. I love it and hate it in the same time, even though the game's a bit scary ( ) sometimes.

My least favorite is the Master System version, I don't like the fighting is different. There doesn't seem to be any consistancy to attacking from the front either. There is just something wrong about Adol being named Aron also.

I forgot about DOS version, by Kyodai! That was definitely the worst port.
EBS: No weird links. The Underdogs is not legal.

Naah ! At least DOS version looks like an Ys. DEMPA's version is so ugly it makes puke just to think about it.

Of the versions I've played the DOS version is clearly the most horrible, what with the beepy speaker music and all.
Still, it's nice to have played it as an interesting curiosity rather than anything else. I'm glad to say I've not seen the DEMPA version. Anyone have screenshots?

the DOS version is bad enough, only because of the music. music really add to the atmosphere of Ys.

For those of you who are wondering who voted that the pcengine version was the worst, well it was me. I thought I was in the what is the best version thread! If I could erase my poll I would but anyhow I would say that the DOS version is the worst!

I voted for the Famicom version because I think it's the most messed up version of the game. The DOS version is also really bad.
Oh, and another thing, the Apple-II version isn't mentioned in the poll.

Oh, and another thing, the Apple-II version isn't mentioned in the poll. This has been forgotten. But it's basically the same as the DOS version (they were both in the same box)

Blasphemy to he that dared to have voted against the PC-Engine/Turbo grafx version! Blasphemy!!! Whoever did it should be burned at the stake for such unacceptable outrageousness I say!!!!! Nah, forget burning; he deserves it French-guillotine style. Off with his head!! (Don't worry sideshow; your mistake is noted, but there's somebody else...) But since it's an old thread and I'm passing through, I voted against the DOS version. HORRIBLE! I never saw the DEMPA version so I'll take everyone's word that it's even worse. Just had to go by what I've played/examined. Thanks for giving me forgiveness! The TG16 was the first version I played, and I am proud because it is the best version!

No doubt the worst are the X68000(DEMPA) and DOS/Apple IIgs versions. Though the Famicom version changed so much from the original PC88 version, but its graphics are a little better than PC88 and it is a bit easier. Notice that the another X68000 YS1 is not an official release but seems to be a fan-made version.

Notice that the another X68000 YS1 is not an official release but seems to be a fan-made version. It's not an official version, no. It's an emulated PC-8801 version for X68000. (Same goes for YsII on X68000)

It's not an official version, no. It's an emulated PC-8801 version for X68000. (Same goes for YsII on X68000) I found README files inside the X68000 "emulated" version of Ys1 and 2 disk images and they said that the two were all made by a team called MILKHOUSE in 1991 and 1992.

Yes, I know. I extracted those readme files some time ago. Fairly interesting.
Again, they are just emulated versions of the PC-8801 versions, with some minor changes (such as the font, etc.)

The cuts that were made to the DEMPA version make it hands down the weakest, how could 3 people say PC-Engine / Turbo grafx?
