It's been YEARS since I've played Ys Eternal but one question has always been lingering and I never got around to asking anyone about: Does Dark Fact move in a set path during the first few seconds of the battle? I could swear that he does for just a bit but after that, my memory goes wonky. It didn't matter if I played it 20 times (and died 18 of those times), I can never distinctly recall his movements. ^^;

Yes. And how well you exploit that first few seconds will usually make or break the battle.

But I take it the pattern is randomized during the rest of the battle? :|

He's like a pinball - he bounces around the edges of the screen, he can't control his own movement at all. I think. (I don't remember either!)

The first few motions are always going to happen. The rest are random.
Anyone ever pull a Double KO on Dark Fact? My sister did that the first time she beat him.

What's a double KO?

Fighting game term: Both people knock each other out at the same time.
Given how the fight with Dark Fact is, it's perfectly possible for both Fact and Adol to go down at the same time.

Tragically, no it doesn't. Basically, he just dies just as he normally does, and so does Adol. Then it goes to a game over screen, and then you have to do the fight again. I iwsh I could have screenshot it; it was really sad. ;_;

They should have an alternate ending, like, Esteria was saved and everyone is happy, but tragically the hero died. Maybe they could build him a memorial. Sadly, that way Ys would never be saved from Darm.

Holy crap, I'm not the only one who played Dungeon Magic?
Mace: The Dark Ages wins the game over race for me. Despite being a rather shabby fighter; when you ran out of continues, your character got a full out Bad End. Which made me smile.

I sure did!
Given I was a punk kid and cheated with a strategy guide. (Given no maps)

It's not so bad, once one figures out how to abuse protective magic. Then you just have to avoid getting lost, and start finding the good equipments.
I always wondered if the unmentioned SNES game was related, though.

The best bad ending in EVER is in Cythera, no contest. I might post it later.

No, the best "cruel" game over screen ever is in the arcade Ninja Gaiden. That's the one with the descending circular saw, right? I can't remember the name now but there was a NES game where if you died, you got placed in one of a few Bond-esque death trap, most which you could escape and one where you couldn't. That sounded fun. My favorite bad ending is still the one in System Shock where your brain gets munched by a spambot/cyborg spider and you get turned into a zombie.

Oh God, Seldane's signature. I'm glad I'm not at work at the moment cuz I literally laughed out loud.
(So it's not THAT funny but I get amused easily, all right?)
Is that like a 200 point size font?
