Hello everyone from the new guy. I have just installed Bernie ][ the Rescue on my ibook and have downloaded Ys 2mg files. If you don't know what Bernie is, it's an Apple IIGS emulator for Macintosh users. Anyhoo, I am having trouble getting Ys to run. I have tried mounting the Ys disk drives (virtual drives mind you), but I get nothing. Since I've never owned an Apple II before, I could be doing something wrong boot wise. Does anyone know the situation I am in? Perhaps someone who owns an Apple IIGS? Or better yet, has run Bernie ][ the Rescue? I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hm, I used to own a Mac... =/
And I'm also trying to play that Ys I version in my Windows, but I can't find an emulator. xD

Try this link.... xgs32.emucamp.com/Apparently it's the only emulator for Windows. If you can figure out how to run Ys, I'd be grateful.

Hey, thanks! I'll try that out. Also sorry I couldn't help. Perhaps FM-77 (member) might know what to do? He knows a lot of things about that kind of stuff, usually.

Re: getting Ancient Land of Ys running with Bernie ][ the Rescue. What does the emulator show? You need to insert Disk 1 and 2 into the emulator. With both virtual disks inserted, you need to restart the virtual Apple IIGS - goto the 'Setup' menu and select 'Restart' or you can simultaneously hold down the keys 'control', 'command/apple' and 'delete', which will emulate an Apple II three finger salute. Once the game has loaded, you'll need to eject Disk 1 and insert a save game disk. I presume you downloaded the IIGS version of Ys from my site at www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/the_fairway/game_pages/ancient_land_of_ys.html) and if you download that archive, a save game disk will be included. Anyone who wants to try out the IIGS version of Ancient Land of Ys on a Windows machine, check out: www.virtualapple.org/ancientlandofysdisk.htmlIt can emulate an Apple IIGS right in Internet Explorer or Firefox if you have ActiveX running. The drawback using this method to run the KEGS emulator, is that you can't use a save game disk! Which is a shame, because it's worth checking out for the IIGS music of Ys, but at least you can check out the town, the forest and Zeppic village...and the shrine I guess, all without saving your game. - Alex
