go back down the tower and talk to those people, you will get an item, i think it was called the brooch in the turbo duo version, it will break the seal to dark facts lair.

It's like Hide N' Seek said, but more specifically you have to talk to Lutta Gemma. If you read the 5 books with the monocle, talk to him and he will give you the Blue Amulet. He's located somewhere near the first mirror floor.

Which Ys I are you playing?
Anyway, be sure you are equipped with the silver equipment. Forget about the Battle quipment and Flame Sword.

Guh. I feel your pain!
Dark Fact from Ys Eternal and the thing from Felghana were always the hardest final bosses for me. >_<
Master System Ys final boss was a joke though!

Yeah, Dark Fact is much harder in Ys Complete than he is in the Turbo Duo. The important thing is not to hit him in such a way that you box yourself in to one of the corners, because then you'll never beat him. You also have to watch that you don't fall down the hole when you hit him, because I did that a few times too. It took me a couple of tries before I finally beat him. If you ask me, the hardest boss in Ys I&II is the one at the entrance to the belfry in Ys II.
