thanks for the comments, I try to do the best I can, but what I'm looking for is ideas on how to improve the maps, like putting labels on entrances & exits and other things. Attachments:

I have personally like them as they are. The more labels, the less map! And a tiny little suggestion, could you possibly save the files as gif or png instead of jpeg? It is such a shame to ruin that beautiful pixel work with the compression of jpeg.

I enjoy looking at maps even more than playing the actual games!

all the original maps are in png but because they were to big for this sit I scaled them down to jpeg so i can put them up here for preview. When I finish, they will be uploaded to VGMaps.com as png files. Attachments:

I think I will download DOSBox and take a run through brunedbless and solomon shrine. I remember thinking I could have missed items in burnedbless area but never took the time to revisit.

some maps (because of the complexity) will have more labels than others so people can understand where to go. Attachments:

anyone know how big burnedbless is? Its big, trust me. Your patience will be tested. The Ice Ridge maps are looking very nice, bringing back the memories.

Didn't the fire area consist of two areas, with different music each? That is pretty seriously cool. I love how this game is made. They didn't skimp on level design! Just the way I like it.

Actually... There is the first area (with the regular "Moat of Burnedbless" theme). From there, - a south eastern entrance leads to the prison where Tarf & Keith are locked (you get the Ice Cystal there and are supposed to return with the Black Pearl). - an eastern entrance (you need the Ice Crystal to proceed) that leads to the Lava Path (this has its own music) and further to the rather small (IIRC) Gerhalt area (again with the "Moat of Burnedbless" theme). Defeat Gerhalt to get the Black Pearl. - a western entrance that leads to a more complicated area (think Ice Ridge of Noltia, but smaller and at the same time more intricate) with a different music. From there a path leads to Mesa's Tower (you know you are there because the music changes again). There is also an expansive "secret area" (I suspect there is more than meets the eye there... I found a "key of destruction" there but did not find its purpose in the game).

Impressive memory! And very interesting too! I probably missed a lot of stuff in there, I remember getting too stressed out by the size of it all, so I rushed through it. This is because I didn't find the save book until right before I came to the last palace. I had to complete each area and dungeon in one sitting. That I don't really have the patience for, but for this game I had to make an exception. I honestly don't remember anything from this game. I have terrible game memory (which is positive in a way, as it allows me to replay games many times, and enjoying it almost like new every time).
