Hi all - great site btw....
I haven't been able to start Ys II Eternal of Ys I&II Complete - - when I double click the icon or the executable, the screen goes black, flickers a little, then straight back to windows again.
Has anyone else had this problem??

Have you tired unchecking the "Enable all AVI movies" option in the setup program? I had a similar issue on one of my machines, and that fixed it. It must have been a codec issue or something.

hey I know exactly what happened
you installed the english patch and said YES to downloading the new intro movie. The file seems to be offline, so you got left with a blank YS2OP_2.AVI in your Data folder.
Just copy it over again from the disc and you'll be good to go.
Or, as was suggested, disable AVI playback...
maybe someone should notify NightWolve!

Thanx jeffx ! That fixed it ! You're right too, with regards to that patch - to the unsuspecting, that might be frustrating if not everything is downloaded.... I do wonder why the patch has to download anything? Why isn't it fully self-contained? Most patches are like that....

Well, that certainly explains my issue, too, then. And I thought it was my machine. I've had so many problems with its Windows installation. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think of reformatting it, but I have SO much installed on it and this is mid-semester and all. At least it doesn't crash on me and cause me to lose work.

I have a quick question for you NW... I want to install the alternative soundtracks but I have a WAVE_22 folder, not WAVE_44...?? Now the sound just won't work.

I was having the same issues with Ys II eternal and disableing the avi playback works but my game was still playing in japanese. I checked out the files that were extracted over and for some reason it did not extract all of them over. So I dragged and dropped the files straight from winRAR over to the directory and reapplied the patch (still have avi playback turned off) and everything worked like a dream! Sweet Im glad to be able to get it to work....If you still cant get it to work PS2 has a release that has extra characters and a new battle system (I believe it was an english release) with different music....>SO that could always be a second thought.
