Should somebody blow up or devour our Yakra, they shall have to answer to ME! Endangered cheetahs are tastier than the run of the plains variety ones. Though, that would be inadvertantly eating Yakra. . . and then I'd have to devour myself in retaliation as well. *paradox* And resurrecting suicide bomber parts for punishment can be tricky. But enough rambling, time to rant. I already state my feelings of South Carolina about once a week. . . but it's been nearly a week so: HATE IT! It's friggin hot, ALWAYS, and even worse, it's friggin' humid. More than ALWAYS! There are days (many of them) I can get no work done because the weather makes me want to tear off my own skin. . . but even then it sinks into the organs, and those are necessary. Beyond that, the local populace is none to flattering. Where I come from (Pennsylvania) you could come across your fair number of intelligent humans. Here, the education system is among the lowest in the country, so between the rampant racism (both ways) and people referring to me (singular) as ya'll in an inbred accent. . . I'm not eager to leave the house. There are a lot of transplants, this being such a big tourist area (for the beaches), but imostly everything about SC just makes me miss the north. . . and SNOW! And unscaled wildlife.

Is there any reason why you have to stay down there? Just thinking that if you really don't like it then it might be worth moving.

Moving requires money. And a place to move to. Which also requires money. Also I have family here, and I occasionally do work for them, being un-officially-employed (not to mention I get to see my nephew on weekends). Also people from whom I'm awaiting a mail response (who can't be contacted) have my current address, so it wouldn't be prudent at the moment even if I had the funds. (from experience, changing your adress just results in not getting your mail. In EVERY state I've lived. But yes, when I DO have the funds. . . The mountains in West Virginia look beautiful.

Necrothreads are such fun. Well... I'm here in Arizona, in the states. And it's blistering hot here in the summer. It nearly never rains, I've seen snow literally twice in almost thirty years of existence, and I don't really know what truly green plants look like up close. In spite of that, I don't really mind it here, but I could totally go for visiting other places to check it out. The heat is super dry, and I love it here in the so-called winter time, because temperatures are just perfect. Plus we have beautiful, clear blue skies and sunsets. Oh, and since I live in a metro area, that's a plus. I could never live in a small town. I like convenience and civilization. The one big downside is that our public transportation system is utter crap, so if you lack a car and a license, you're pretty screwed for getting anywhere. Totally want to visit some other countries though, just for the experience.

Ashy lives in the same place as Lumi, but hates it significantly more.
While I do enjoy all of the conveniences of the city, I loves me some nature. Phoenix has none of this. Never mind that it's a desert to begin with, everything else is an eyesore, too.
The climate here is abhorrent. I detest it with every fiber of my being. I want rain. Lots of it. I want a real winter. I want a summer that isn't whatthefuck hot. I really... want to move to Canada. Vancouver is my ideal future residence. It's exactly what I want.

I love Edinburgh. I could talk about how it's a beautiful, cultured city that attracts tourists from all around the world every year. How it's just big enough to have all the amenities I need, but still small enough to not be overwhelming to someone as shy and meek as myself. How history breathes in every cobblestone and oozes through the cement cracks between every brick, but is married with wonderful modern architecture and an academic quarter that, far from trading on its rather amazing pedigree, continues to produce leading thinkers year after year. How I'm proud of my city opening its arms to dozens of different nationalities and cultures. And about how we have luscious, sprawling gardens and a scenic mini-mountain within about ten minutes' walk of the busiest district in the city.
Yes, I could talk about such things. And it would probably all be true. Edinburgh really is a lovely city, and having both lived in and traveled to other places, I can understand why people choose to come here. Still, to be honest, I don't really care about any of the stuff I mentioned. I love Edinburgh simply because most of my loved ones are here. ^^ Every street corner is full of dear memories, my days are spent on a campus full of wonderful teachers and interesting classmates, and no matter where I am I'm rarely more than ten minutes away from a friend's door. I'm not even remotely patriotic, and was never one to get sentimental over places, but over the last few years I've gone through some terrible things, and the warmth and support I've received from friends, tutors and even complete strangers throughout it all has at times left me speechless. Somehow somewhere along the line all of that became interwoven in my mind with the city itself. And before I knew it, I had fallen in love with Edinburgh. Not as some amazing beacon of culture and refinement, but simply as a place home to those I love. To so much kindness, sincerity and outright decency.
And now I'm rambling. :'D I'll just say that I've visited a lot of wonderful places, but that Edinburgh has something different for me. Edinburgh is home. ^^ And for someone who spent their childhood moving around and never got a very concrete sense of identity nor a chance to put down their roots, that's something very special indeed~!

Er, can't say I really like where I live (Tallahassee). There's not really anything here besides the Capitol, so I pretty much only go to my school and home (and FSU) when it comes to going places around town.
On the bright side, it's a pretty laid back place all things considered, which I like better than lots of hustle and bustle (like in big cities such as New York). Also, the atmosphere here is pretty good; we have pink lichen, which is an indicator of clean air.
I'd like to move (back) to Asia if possible, but it's hard to say what will happen in the future.

You can expect plenty of rain in Vancity, but you won't have a real winter except for every couple of years, and still nothing compared to places like Edmonton or Toronto or...Whitehorse? At least we have those local mountains where you can go if you like snow (and have deep pockets). The summer however is indeed heavenly comfortable. I'm lucky enough that I'm living in one of the more nicer parts of the city that by all rights I shouldn't be able to afford. That being said, it's still nice to get away and travel every now and then, there's nothing like being away that makes it feel extra special to come home. I started motorcycling last year and I would love to get away for a few days, go through the Rockies or up to the Yukon or something. I took a few day trips last year and there is some spectacular driving outside of the city, you would love it. Still, who knows where my work might lead me in the future? And that's only a matter of perhaps 2-4 years at this point... and the whole marriage thing - would be another huge influence on my next long-term place of residence. No prospects there yet but I try to change that all the time

In-Ger-Land, the land of binge-drinking and football hooligans - and curry. It's great if you like the chavs around here.

I live up in the mountains, and I rather love it. Also, I plan to collect photographic evidence that the place I live is Celceta. There are big, forest-y mountains on all sides, lots of large rocky cliffs, and even A TEMPLE ON THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN. Yes. We have an abandoned eastern style temple. Pictures will follow, once I can go get some.

I live out in the sticks and know a bunch of people who claim to be friends but can't be assed to talk or hang out. Needless to say, I stay in a lot.

Well, i'm in Florida here in the USA, and I do admit I hate it here. Its such an icky sub tropical climate, and on top of that, it seems bereft of my two favorite seasons altogether, fall and winter.
Its overpopulated and loaded with cranky, grouchy old people who can't drive too. There's a lot of crime and our state currently houses the city with the highest suicide rate of the USA.
I begrudgingly deal with it because I have no cash to move, and even if I did, i'd want to take my friends with me, since they feel the way I do too.
There's not much to do down here for a game/anime fan because of the clientele and the age groups. Granted there are somewhere between 5- 15 conventions down here, and growing, but its still so dull without them all the time.
Just for once i'd love to live someplace cooler, and with a more entertaining population/lifestyle that's perfect for my interests.
I also wanna see wide open pastures and mountains again! Dx
I'd love to live in Japan, because I am fascinated with their culture almost to a insatiable extent, and I love their flora and fauna. But sadly, the cost of living there is so ludicrously high, and that makes it so much harder to do.

I fecking hate Kew Gardens, where I live, it's pretty but it's a necropolis full of retired eccentrics and NOO shops and I can't wait to move on. What's more it's right at the edge of London where there are railworks practically EVERY weekend when I am trying to visit my friends.

I grew up in Ohio and moved down to Orlando to go to college. Loved it, absolutely hated when I had to leave after graduation. As I see it, the sweltering heat is offset by the ability to wear shorts on Christmas day. It's not like you really get true winters up north anymore. It doesn't start to really snow until maybe January, and even then, it never lasts for very long. You're absolutely right about the drivers, though. They treat rain like a blizzard, which is doubly amusing when you consider the fact that it rains there every 15 minutes. So...long story short. I'll gladly take your place. You can keep the palmetto bugs, though.

What part of Florida, if you don't mind my asking? I'm near the bay area. The humidity is usually stronger here, due to the sea breeze.

Does it smell like burning out that way every now and then? I used to wake up from time to time and the whole city smelled like it was on fire. Never could figure that out.

Yeah it still does every now and then. Its probably due to brush fires, or people burning garbage/leaves. Florida tends to get pretty dry during winter, but the sun and heat remains.
