The equipment isn't required at all. It's just nice to have since it is the most powerful in the game.

Yeah, Ys IV is awesome. I'm still somewhere in the beginning of the game, but it is awesome! I am playing the game on my PSP with the English patch that got released for the SNES rom. ^_^
My favorite song in the game is Adoru's theme.

Well I finally finished the dawn of Ys game, took me awhile cause I was really busy (bought a wii ). Wow that was a F)(*&^ good game. The last guy was awesome and the music was great. Now all I have to do is wait till Ys 5 and origins is translated to finish the saga. Don't mean to spoil anything but was that Lilia with the kids in the ending, cause if it was did she marry Adol cause one of the kids had red hair. I don't really mind of this fact, I think they make a good couple . Putting that aside should I now play Ys4 for the snes? I've played it a long time ago, but didn't finished cause there was a better version on CD, but after playing the CD version I find out the games are totally different and irrelevant.

Ys, you should definately play the SNES/SFC version of the game. Mask of the Sun is the only honest and faithful rendition of Ys IV. Hasboro or whoever they are took too many liberties Edit: Also, Ys V is damn good! One of my favorites. I always wondered what it'd be like to remake Faxanadu to play like Ys V. I even attempted it, although it became a completely original project not long after. Pseudo 3D movement engines are the pinnacle of awesome!
