Well, considering how that version of Ys IV looked, I'm not really surprised.

I don't know if this is like..any help at all, but if you type in Ys under the search bar for Gamefaqs, you scroll down to PS2 section and click on it. It shows under info that Taito has claimed to release it in Winter of 2005. Soooo..along with anybody else here, I'm crossing my fingers

I believe we have all already established the fact that Taito rumored to release it around winter of 2005, but..as we all know, technically..according to the calender..winter doesn't officially end until March 20th, which is when Spring begins, soooo..they COULD actually wait until January or something to release it, but..with it being the year of 2005, then it would kind of HAVE to be in December past the 12 if they are releasing it during Winter. Ah, well..ANYWAYS...to save confusion, lol...the only question left to be answered now, is...are they going to release "Kefin, the Lost City of Sand" or "Expert" instead? Ah, well...we can only wait and see...*continues tapping his foot for another few months* one day...*sighs*

That's the same game, only "Expert" being a little harder. Since this will be such a different remake, it won't be of either the original or "expert". It will be a totally different experience.
Anyway, it looks like this one's not going to be released, at least it hasn't been mentioned even ONCE since the first announcement. At least not that I know of.

I didn't play V, well..more like..I haven't played it yet, soooo..I just thought Kefin and Expert were different, but..I'll still hope for a PS2 port before the year 2006, or..just at all, as long as Taito comes around to releasing it. If you take a look on gamefaqs and look at Taito's line-up, they haven't got to the release of Ys V yet, sooo..let's just give it time. I'm still hoping they will. Yeah...hoping...*walks off pouting*

I adore Ys V, especially the soundtrack, and own both versions for Super Famicom. I can only hope they make it better than IV. I fully expect them to release it since they went ahead and made the other two.

Yes, thanks for the news. If anything, maybe Taito is doing something special for the game. Perhaps they listened to the critics on Ys IV. However it comes out, it will be nice to see what they do with the music. All the prior Ys soundtracks have gotten considerably fair treatment in regards to musical arrangements, but not V, all we got was an image album and a orchestra version.

Hmm, anyone seen any preorders yet??

no not yet for preorders. i am fearing that the game will be no better then the Ys IV remake and that is why they are not showing it to the last moment. they got alot of heat for that game from what I am seeing it sounded like all the games went into development around the same time, they all came out so far within 4 or 5 months of each other. I think they decided to do Ys 4 and 5 the same in terms of graphics, they then released part 4 with highest hopes and it looked and turned out horrible, now they are close to releasing Ys V and do not want to go back and re-program the entire thing so they are not showing it off at all until close to its release to avoid anymore flak I hope I am wrong about this but I got a bad feeling that this game will get a small release and slip under the radar as a budget title. i thought Ys III looked great I loved the hand drawn graphics it reminded me of the Ys 1 and 2 complete. i wish that could have been released for the PC i would have loved to play that version of it. but alas i do not own a PS-2. Isn't all Taito titles budget titles? Seems like it.

to me budget titles are usually games that come out and are $20.00 in the store, if i recall the other 2 Ys games they made cost about $40.00 or more (the box set for Ys III was like $70.00) when games start to cost as much as the mainstream titles on the market they are no longer budget titles. Edit .Oh cool I just hot 400 post and now I am a Priest of Ys Sweet Chris

Well, the games are expensive. But the games are .... cheap. If you get my point. But then again, I suppose Taito isn't the biggest company in the world.

You should get yourself a used PS2 or something, they're getting cheaper......or maybe even wait if need be, until the PS3 comes out, the price should drop some more! Orrrrrrr, you can wait until there's a reliable PS2 emulator I suppose.

The new version 3.0 even supports DVD-9 (dual layer) discs!
