The first cave? You should be with that little kid. He sits on top of the button. When you go up and get to that barrier, there's some kind of trigger hidden behind it. Just toss a fireball to hit it. You'll find Niena and exit the cave automatically. Hehe, this is a bit off-topic, but were you guys aware that Discoalucard is the guy behind the Hardcore Gaming 101 website and the one responsible for its article about the Ys series? Just in case somebody wanted to know that. I remember being on the VGM Hub and seeing that DiscoAlucard name. Now I know who is behind the mask! Hardcore Gaming 101 rules!

Yes, it seems that Taito stepped the production values up a bit for the final remake in the series that they planned. I was able to upload two swords. The Fire sword and Aqua sword from Ys IV? There was one armor and shield that I didnt find in Ys IV A New Theory although not having these equipments probably does nothing when uploading with Ys V link option. I wonder what the Ys III data allows you to do? I've just beat the crab in the cave. Did you guys notice how the camera pans durying certain parts of the cave? Thought it looked quite nice. By the way, I noticed there was a flower off the hill in the town next to this cave. Dont know what its use is yet? I also noticed that one of the pigs looks like it farts when you interact with it. I was able to find 2 chests in the caves. One had a ring and the other I believe had some armor that I already purchased at a shop. I agree about the music sounding better than the first two Taito remakes. I mean, I prefer the music of Ys III and Ys IV, but the quality of the music in Ys V was given a much better effort. Well, I'm moving on with the game.

May be someone can help. This is another event that's not in the original Ys V. Niena is back in her shop, I went back into the cave and beat the boss, but I can't progress any more. There is a tree blocking the exit out of Foresta town and the bridge back at Xandria Plain is still down. I believe I have talked to everyone several times, and I still don't know what to do.
Interesting music was used in the crystal room.

There is a tree blocking the exit out of Foresta town and the bridge back at Xandria Plain is still down. The bridge will be down until near the end of the game. If it is faithful to the original scenario, that is. You should know that!

It's been a long time since I played through it, I forgot about the bridge, but the tree is new, any ideas? I'll talk to everyone again.

If you ask me it's not awful. While it basically looks and plays exactly the same as the Taito Ys IV, the game is pretty cool. I've played all the Ys IV's and Ys V and Ys V expert, so it's not like I don't have any experience.
There are a lot of things I would change if I was in charge, but it is what it is. As you've already probably read, there is a nice improvement in the soundtrack when compared to the Taito Ys III and IV. For me that means a lot, being a big fan of the Ys V score. If you liked the Taito Ys IV, you will like this. If you can't stand the Taito versions, then gameplay-wise you're in for more of the same. I thought the Ys IV got really good towards the end, and even though the dungeons/environments so far in this one are done really wierd like in the Ys IV, I am liking this one more than that one already. If you don't like it, Falcom will probably remake it for PC anyway.

When I last played the game a couple days ago, I am also somewhat stuck. After beating the crab, I went back to Xandria to experience a cut scene with the blonde hair shopkeeper and the king. Not sure what to do next cause the dude next to the tree trunk is saying something that I just have no idea what it means. Possible you have to equipped one of the stones in a sword then use its magic powers to progress?

Hey I am stuck in the exact same place. I bought another sword and equipped it with boulder magic and still nothing. I have talked to everyone, everywhere more than once. I am convinced the tree must be dealt with, due to there being nowhere else to go. I just don't know how.

Well, I just messed around with the game a bit but couldnt advance with any luck. I tried mixing some of the magic on the swords but cant get that damn tree to budge! I noticed there was another tree in the forest that looks exactly like the one that the blue haired guy is next to. I tried equipping 4 of the same colored gems on one sword but the game wouldnt let me. Three is the max so far. Well, somebody must of got further in the game. Please share your input.

Still stuck in the same place for over a week. I just tried to play again this morning, so yes, if anyone is past this "tree" thing, please post.

Hehe, I don't think anyone's gotten that far. I know I haven't (and probably never will). Take a hint -- even the GAME wants you to stop playing.

Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of the Unpassable Giant Trees. That's my current impression of the game.

Can't go easy on it just because it says Ys in the title. This game is terrible.

And if someone with the same taste as Seldane says that something is terrible then it must be 10 times worst than terrible.
