I was looking at the official trailer www.konami.jp/Ys-napishtim/movie/ys_pvfore3ps2.asx and at about 1'42'' of it I saw like some of those horrible PSOne-like 3D rendered sequences and I was like totally shocked!! The original game features some cool anime sequences, but it doesn't have rendered animations?! does it? look at the video!! I almost bet this is konami of america's fault or something I don't know, I can't say more 'cause I haven't even played the original PC game, but look for yourselves and tell me what you think?

Um... I'm not sure what you're talking about but at about the 1'42" mark... it looks almost like as if it's a scene produced with 3d cgi animation...

Exactly, I'm complaining about how konami mixed the great anime like sequences from the original game with some horrendous 3D animations they created for the PS2 version (I really doubt those were in the orginal game). I don't like this mix of styles, looks bad and it disapoints me to know that every new 'feature' about this port is just something they did to ruin the original concept Let's hope they don't spoil anything else...

Heh heh...that really made me giggle. I don't think it will have that far-reaching an effect however. From the two CGI scenes in the trailer that I saw, it looks like they are re-enacting the pre-game from the instruction manual. I think that's a good idea. In the PC version, you could only see this scene in the manual, and it was never rendered in-game. Yeah, it would be nice if they did it using traditional cel animation instead, like Falcom did for the intro movie, but beggars can't be choosers after all. It is, after all, only a movie, and has no bearing on the gameplay.
What I wonder about is if Konami made the entire soundtrack sound like the music in the trailer. Man, that would get old. Admittedly, I am myself a symphony musician, and I love orchestral music. However:
a) it's just not Ys without the butt rock b) game composers never seem to know how to make orchestra music REALLY interesting anyways, with a very very few exceptions (Final Fantasy Tactics comes to mind)
I have to admit when I saw "completely redone soundtrack", I was kind of hoping that they still retained the feel of the original soundtrack, but recorded it using better equipment, kind of like Hudson used to do in the old days. Well, it still could be. Maybe this is just something they threw together for the trailer.
