I just saw on IGN's PS2 board PSM's magazine score for Ys.
They gave it an 8.0 out of 10.

Not too bad. Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it a 7.3
So far it's doing better than Konami's other RPG that just came out (Suikoden IV) as far as reviews go (Suikoden IV averaged out at 6.5 according to gamerankings.com)

6.5 for Suikoden 4?? Huh, I atleast give it a 9, & I'm more then halfway thru it, I'm loving it! Suikoden 3, had it's moments, & some decent music(not up to par with the first 2 though), it also was very frusterating, & well, uninspiring. I didn't hate it, but, 4 is a breath of fresh air! It's the most fun I've had since 2, great game, great voice acting, decent music, great story! It actually "feels" like a Suikoden game!

EGM mag gave it a score of 7.5/6.5/8.0, they also mentioned something about the dub being "so bad it hurts"..but mentioned some good points- saying that konami paid attention to the series... anyhow- i played and beat the pc version- and ill be sure to pick this one up!

They said Ys dub is bad? Suikoden 4's is awesome, I can't imagine them using bad voice actors for a similar project. Oh & btw, on Suikoden 4, the game is so good, that when I fire it up, & let the opening cinema do it's thing, I sometimes get goosebumps, yes, the game rocks that much, atleast, IMHO. Only certain games give me that feeling, like any Ys game, or Lunar, or Suikoden minus #3. Well, I hope they got the same voice actors for Ys 6 as they did for Suikoden 4!

OPM gave the game a 3.5 (they grade on a 5 point scale)
There is also a demo of the game on the demo disc (I'm going to look for the magazine later today).

Im upset about the rankings this game is getting.....I am wondering if its because of the "improvements" or what...

I also read about the voiceacting being bad as hell for Ys 6 and what was this thing I heard about Ys 6 having 2 soundtracks, original and konami arranged version... and Sukoiden IV sucks too...

Well I at least expected an 8.5 or so...... a 7.3 is just so.....um .... C- ya know. And think it at least deserves a B.

I think it's worth an 8.5 too, the game is way above averige (7 seems to be averidge nowadays). ratings in the old days were much strickte, but I degress...I agree on not a AAA status but a B/B+ defently...

With its new soundtrack, Ys VI doesn't deserve that much. It has a conventional soundtrack now.

That's odd, can't find anything that sucks about it, it just plain rule IMO, glad to have a decent RPG come out once & awhile.

I think Deuce said it best. The game doesnt have any new formula about it, which is not bad. Usually these critics nowadays give high scores to games that are innovative at the present. Ys VI would probably get a 9 or 10 if the game came out years ago when programmers didnt know how to harness the power out of the PS2. I'm probably gonna laugh at the PS3's first titles in comparison to what the later games will look like. I'm just really proud of Konami in translating this game and releasing it outside of japan.
