heh heh. I'd love to, but I bought OiF last month. I should probably order VI straight from Falcom. How long does it take Falcom to ship stuff to the U. S.?

Supposed to have got it today, but Himeyashop sent Ys: Oath in Felghana instead. Good job, guys. A similar thing happened to me! I had already bought Ys VI from Falcom, when I ordered the PS2 Ys I & II Eternal Story, and got another Ys VI! Luckily, I was allowed to send it back and got the correct game soon after. Funny that that happened though.

OT: "Okay, Mr. Fact, which one of these infidels tried to beat you up? Don't worry, that glass is made from Cleria, they can't see you." Hee hee hee.

Later, in the courtroom. . .
Attorney for the Defense:
"Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't have been bouncing around shooting fireballs and caving in the floor? Didn't think so. Your Honor, motion to dismiss."

Yeah, I shouldn't have quoted Gamemusicfreak.. It started a very off topic discussion.

Ys VI is still one of the best games I've ever played. Just a few days ago I played it just to run around and look at all the cool graphics. I know it's been a while since it's release, but as they say, a classic is never outdated.

Got it today, at last. Looks excellent! Love the contrast with Ys OiF in that VI is entirely horizontal, but OiF stayed more or less true to III and made it, as best they could, side scrolling, what with much more vertical leaps and whatnot. Anyone else notice this?

Zelda? Why do people keep comparing Ys to Zelda? There are no similiarities whatsoever.

Zelda? Why do people keep comparing Ys to Zelda? There are no similiarities whatsoever. Well... 1. Both series have a realtime batlle system 2. Both series makes use of a simple magic system with attacks which in some ways are pretty similar 3. Both series are adventure influenced series (pick up item there, use it there, aquire new item, backtrack a bit, use item, advance) 4. Ys III and Zelda II are both viewed from the side and are played as platform/RPG's, both are somewhat considered being the black sheeps in their series. 5. Most of the games in both series are viewed from the top If someone that hadn't played Ys were to ask me what kind of game it was... I would reply something like "It's an action/RPG in the veins of Zelda, albeit shorter and with much more focus on hack'n'slash and dungeon crawling than on problem solving.

I wrote a long post about this, but *someone* beat up the computer so it stopped working just when I was going to send it. Great work, Adam. And hey, I didn't say "NO SIMILIARITIES WHATSOEVER", I said "no similiarities whatsoever" - it's a big difference. Oh yeah, Zelda has a silent protagonist. Yaaah!!

Hehe, just got the PS2 (PAL) version. Now I finally have a chance to try out this game at last! By the way, the only way to get this game (in Finland, at least) was to order it via the net. Something that happened in many other countries? I've seen it in a store here in Sweden. It cost 499 SEK! (~$61) By the way - you must be the last person here to get this game!
