Well it seems I stubbled upon some cash recently and I want to get atleast one Ys game. The problem is I don't know if I should get the PC version or Ps2 version. I know the PS2 version has voice acting and thats about it. Is there anything else that one version has that the other one dosen't? Sorry in advance if this has been asked before.

I honestly think it's a personal preference on what you like...
I dont have enough cash to shell out for PC version and heck, I dont read Japanese! But if there's a Chinese version, I might have considered it...
the PS2 version is cheaper and I dont think it's that bad. It could've been improved but it's still a great play. I think with the stuff I didn't like... they just become an after thought when you've played enough of it. For example, it's not stubby Adol we see in the PC version. But the animation of Adol's movement is actually quite well done.

It seems like a no brainer to me. If you don't understand japanese, the PS2 version is the way to go. The PS2 version also has the option for Japanese voice acting if that's your thing.

Well the 3D models don't really bother me. I just wanted to make sure Konami didn't do a shady job with the port. I assume there aren't issues with slow down or with the translation right?

Translation is good, the voice acting (in japanese) is good, you can even input a code to change the game to PC mode which lets you play with the original anime cutscenes instead of the Konami 3d ones. All in all, I would say go with PS2.
It's also nice to know what's going on. :)

PS2 all the way......its cheaper, in English, has extras and it is practically the same as the PC...the only little difference would be the graphics arent as clean as the PC's, and adol looks his age in the PS2 version.

You might look into that actually, Jo. About a Chinese version I mean. After all, Ys 1&2 Eternal have a Chinese version. The first time I ever saw the game played was in Chinese, actually.

Get the PS2 version! The PC version is more than twice as expensive as the the PS2 version, besides, it's in Japanese. It's also much harder to get ahold of.

The pc version had better graphics. The PS2 version is good (if you turn on all the cheat codes).

with graphics.... the only thing i would complain about is Adol is not the stubby Adol in the PC version and I wish they have transparency because some places NEEDED that!! Other then that, everything else looks great.

The PC version looks better and the box is just fantastic compared to the PS2 (even the limited edition). I have both so I would say that the PC is more for Ys collectors and PS2 version for playing especially if you don't read japanese !

I would go with the ps2 version just because it has the alma's trials. Its basicly just a little bit more of the game to play, which is a big plus for me considering how the game is a little on the short side.

I liked the PC version slightly better because of the anime opening sequences, sprite characters were better, and the fact I could turn up the resolution on my PC.
But the PS2 version was extremely close to the PC, IMHO.. I didn't really notice any difference in the music (except the new tracks for Alma's Trials) and I thought most of the monsters looked and moved like the PC version. (especially the scary chippies in the Quattra Woods!) I thought the best part of the PS2 version was the voice acting and dialog.
So, overall I would have enjoyed if I could have just played the PC version, but it was fun playing both versions.

WisebearAZ, there's a code to play the game in the original PC mode with the anime cutscenes on the ps2. Good thing, too, cuz I couldn't stand those 3d cinematics.

I know they weren't great but come on, at least they tried.... lol
I think it was bad because none of the characters resembled the actually characters!!

I like the PS2 version better, than again my Japanese isn't so good and having the japanese voices and english texts really helps.
