This may already seem apparent to seasoned Ys gamers, but I just noticed that this game has references to all the Ys games that came before it. Some are blatantly obvious and some are more subtle.
Ys 1: Raba (also noting his conversation with Ur when he was recalling the events in Darm Tower), the point of no return at the end of the game.
Ys 2: The female lead finding (in this case, Olha) Adol unconscious and nurses him back to health.
Ys 3: Galbalan.
Ys 4: Explains more about the Eldeen civilization in Ys 6.
Ys 5: Returning characters Terra and Ladoc, although I'm not too sure about Ladoc because I haven't really played much of Ys 5.
That's all I can think of right now, although there may be more.

YsI: Dogi crashes a wall YsIII: Dogi crashes a wall YsIV: Dogi crashes several walls (in fact, too many walls! )

Heh, that's true. But that seems more like an Ys tradition because it's been in the majority of the games. I was talking about elements in Ys VI that aren't consistently demonstrated in the Ys series, but are specific references to a specific Ys game. Like Lilia and Olha finding Adol at the beginning of their respective games has only been an aspect of Ys II but also referenced in Ys VI.

Is it just me or does the whole "Washing up on the beach" scene seem kind of re-used? Hahaha. Not meaning that as a bash towards the Ys series in any way whatsoever, but it happened in the first one, so I was just wondering why they used it again in VI, lol.

A homage to the first game perhaps? It seems that's mostly what Ys VI is all about. Kind of like how Gundam Seed is to the Gundam Saga (has many references to past Gundam shows, reusing previous story arcs, etc.) BTW I haven't played the Complete versions yet, only the TG CD and the NES versions of Ys 1&2.

They used "So much for today" as the game over music, and that hasn't been used since Ys I & II. It was great to see them use that again. That definitely was a sign that the series was back. Hopefully, no more long gaps in between releases.

I thought so much for today was also used in Ys III, or is my memory just failing me?
Also, here's an interesting question, I could've sworn that Dogi Broke through a wall in the PC-Engine version of Ys II, is my memory flaky or did that actually happen?
Another shout out is the Galba equipment as that is another not to Galbalan, and there is also the Romun army which Adol tangled with in IV.
I loved how Ark did a great job of tying previous games together.

Past events will clearly show - Boats are not Adol's friends. Neither are males that are remotely pretty. Especially if they have long hair and wings/horns, etc.
