Well, I finished up the Ark of Napishtim last night. Everywhere I read the game got mediocre reviews, and personally I really liked it. Really, I have only 2 complaints about the game: 1) Dash Jump. I'm sure you all know how ridiculously well timed you have to be to get this off. I'm dexerously challenged or something, because I had to try to make some of those jumps 20-30 times before I'd get it right. Thank goodness none of them were needed to finish the game. 2) Too much running back and forth. Oy! I thought the story was good, though the end seemed a bit forced. The game has lots of side quests, which really to me made up for some of the story flaws. Like all the work they put into the story around Emel and the Tabulas that you find. Bosses are great looking, though they seemed to be hit or miss on difficulty. Either they were really really REALLY hard to kill, or a complete pushover. That aside, great game. Looking forward to going through it again, I hear you can use the save points as teleports or something after you go through it once - that'd be nice to have the first time (and probably should have been there, IMO). Oh, and I like what unlocked at the end CmdrMarkus' Review : 4 out of 5 Edit: I'm going to import Ys : Oath in Felghana and run through it next I have a vendor that is looking into importing it for me now, just waiting on a price unless you guys know of a way to get it shipped to the US through someone local.

Just order directly from falcom. They ship fast, plus you know you're not getting a major corn-holing on the price. This is hands down the best way. Click

You can teleport between the save points as soon as you get that wing (Alma's Wing?). You don't need to finish the game first.

You can teleport between the save points as soon as you get that wing (Alma's Wing?). You don't need to finish the game first. I think the Playstation 2 version (the one I was playing) maybe a little different than the PC version. Alma's Wing, for me only does 2 things: it will teleport me out of a dungeon to the save point before the dungeon, or it will take me to Alma's Trials. It won't move me from save point to save point I maybe thinking of something else. But it seems like I read somewhere that after you beat the game, the save points will be red when you use them and you can teleport from one save point to another. I could be wrong though.

As I was just looking at the trailer for Ys VI, I noticed some Anime in there that looks like it was still left out of the PS/2 game. Does anyone have this that might be willing to share it? I'd like to see some of the cut scenes that apparently got cut in either the US port of the game, or the PS/2 port of it. In fact, recalling the game it had the opening, 2 cutscenes in the game and the final cutscene. Was the PC version this short of movies? The demo makes it look like there should be a lot more than that, like Adol defending with his sword from Ernst. That anime scene was never in the version I played.

The anime sequences were removed from the PS2 version, but they're still there! You'll need to use some codes. They can be found here! By the way, PS/2 (Personal System/2) is a mouse/keyboard interface, the console you're talking about is called PS2.

Markus. Ernst. How was the fight? Also: Hard and Nightmare difficulties sound like they are for you! =D You know... I think my expectations on that fight were a little too high. When I saw him my reaction was "oh crap!". I fought him twice, the first time trying things to see what worked and what didn't. I got him down to about 64 hps and finally ate the floor. The second time, I figured out to just use the lightning sword and run around him letting it recharge. By the time I had gotten to that fight, I had my Emelas Guard, Gloves, Armor and all 3 swords were max level. In hindsight, he really was kind of a pushover. The second time I might have lost 300 hps, but with a pool of 623 that's nothing. Now, I will say this - remove the faeries, and make me go 1v1 with him and it would have been a MUCH harder fight. He's nasty, and has a ton of moves! Definately the coolest boss. The boss after him, in the Ark was weird too. Seemed really hard, until I figured out where ot hit it. Then it was a piece of cake. I think that of all the bosses, the hardest bosses were: The flying crab, the Plant that bites and spits out spores, the wasp and the boss you fight right before you catch up with Dogi that you have to hit the bombs back at. Those are the only ones that really gave me any trouble. Oddly enough, 2 of those are optional bosses and I think my perspective maybe skewed on the flying crab because my sword when I fought it didn't have malestrom magic the first time. No whirlwind = VERY difficult fight. I'll definately be going through it on the other difficulties... at least until Oath in Felghana arrives On the anime, I did go into cheat mode and do the code to unlock them once I found out it existed, but it just didn't seem like there were many sequences.
