Im thinking A darm tower dungeon crawler here, but i hoping we get to see some of Esteria. Also how long do you think this game will be? Obviously it has definate replayability. Be nice if one run through was like a 30 hour hack fest hehe. Also I hope we see all the classic Darm tower Monsters from Ys I and others from Ys II all suped up.

Probably 10 hours per quest like all the other Ys games. Maybe a little less, as it is a "dual quest" game.

I've been thinking Darm Tower dungeon crawler too. I really hope it's more than that though. The thought of a large underwater chamber (as seen in the demo) section in Darm Tower doesn't sit right with me. Also, so far there's no evidence of there being a town in the game either.

I won't play both quests as they will basically be the same thing, except with a different character.

I'm leaning towards both scenarios will have a mix of a couple different levels exclusive to each character. It would be way too awesome if both characters had entirely exclusive levels attached to them.

If it's anything like playing through Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic both light side and dark side, there's cool stuff that makes both playthoughs worthwhile, but then you don't get to avoid the really boring parts either. *coughcoughNarShadaacoughcough*

I will sure be a happy camper if both scenarios are completely different. Replay factor would be huge.

This is against the entire video game industry. I'm sure both scenarios will be practically identical gameplay-wise (i e identical dungeons, bosses, etc). The story can differ, but it is not hard work to change the dialogue.
Think Seiken densetsu 3 - the story changes a bit depending on what character you choose, but you still get to play the same dungeons, overworlds, bosses, etc. Each character get one exclusive dungeon each, but that's it. I'm completely positive this will be the case with Ys Origin as well.

Well, this is most likely the first boss in the game. I would be amazed if there were a couple different levels for each character. Maybe to find all the games secrets you have to play both characters through the same levels. Regardless of what happens the game is gonna shred. period.

Or it could be like Resident Evil 2

In Casltevania 64, you could choose Reinhart Schneider or that Carlie girl...The game starts exactly the same for both. Then as you go though the game, you'll notice many stages are the same and many other stages are totally exclusive for each character. ^^ I believe it will be KINDA like that.
I believe in Falcom. xD (otherwise....it would be pityfull, but I would still play both characters' quests. ^^)

It would be cool if there was a 3-D Ys I-II to be unlocked when you finished both quests.

Telling the "Origin" could be a set up for Ys I & II remakes I hope.

As cool as that may be.. I & II were just updated (1998 and 2000 respectively) and quite competently. They'd honestly need a full-out Felghana style re-imaging to do it again (imagines the music.. actually that might not be a bad idea!).. but, honestly, if they go back to well after Origins I'd rather see them tackle IV and V first.

Not quite correct. Ys 1-2 COMPLETE (not the same as Ys 1-2 ETERNAL) was released in 2001. I doubt they'll remake these games again anytime soon (if ever).

Well that was mostly just a minor upgrade to Ys I, right? Either way, it still illustrates that they're fairly recent and another remake would be a bit silly right now.

Silly and non-profitable. Especially considering they're still SELLING Ys 1-2 Complete. People would rather buy a completely new Ys game, or at least a game that hasn't been remade yet (Ys 4-5).

Still, including at least the Darm Tower part of Ys I as a bonus in Origin would be relatively easy to do (since the tower seems to be in the game anyway), and it wouldn't hurt the sales of Ys I-II Complete. But I agree that releasing another remake of I-II now would not be very rational and I'd much rather see remakes of IV and V. But what I would like best right now would be a translation patch for Ys V as I agree with Seldane that it's a really awesome game.

I'm all for an Oath-style remake of I-II, but only after we get IV and V so I can blot the memory of Taito's games out of my memory with sweet Falcom goodness. Plus, a remake of I and II so close on the heels of this game would feel kinda like they were just recycling elements. Now for speculation. I figure that the two games will play mostly the same (accounting for style differences between the two characters) but we might get one or two unique areas. Speaking of characters, anyone else wondering how one Fact managed to be dirtside while another managed to be on Ys 700 years later and whether or not this game will explain it... without resorting to 'Hugo Fact was a player' explanations? Although I doubt it'll happen, having an unlockable character after beating Hugo and Yunika's games would be cool. There were a lot of weapon-wielding people in that promo trailer and they can't all be bosses.
