That's a great shot. I wonder if the familiar Darm Tower tune will play inside the tower or will there be an all new tune?

I hope it will be a new tune. I can't stand the Darm Tower music (well the original one is okay, but the remixes [PC Engine, soundtrack CDs, etc] are awful).

I actually never much liked the normal Darm Tower theme, from the lower levels. It just never really grabbed me. That's because the song isn't serious at all (excluding the original chiptune). They tried to make a circus song for the mighty tower. WHY? Idiots. I really like Dreaming, too.. Tension is too strange for me.

Agreed....The PS2 Version of Tension is excellent.

Well, I DIDN'T really like Tension that much until I heard it in Ys I & II Eternal Story for PS2. That particular version of the song is sped up faster than any other I've heard -- and when it's played at high-speed like that, it sounds excellent, and its name really fits. I got used to the version in Ys I Complete, but it still sounds much too slow for my tastes. EDIT: Actually, scratch that... I'm listening to it again now, and I must be thinking of another version of it, because this one is just as fast as its PS2 counterpart. I think it's just that I don't like the instrumentation as much... but I still like it, regardless. -Tom You're probably thinking of the Ys Eternal version which was much different than the Ys Complete version.

I like a lot the "ordinary" song from Darm Tower in Ys Book I & II and also in Dawn of Ys. How can you not like it Seldane? (I didn't like it a lot in Ys COMPLETE and in the Eternal Story for PS2 though.) Tension and Dreaming weren't in Ys I until ETERNAL came. Anyway, Tension is ok, but I LOVE Dreaming (it is incredible in Eternal Story! Amazing!) *cough*, well, getting back ontopic... I won't preorder YsO, I'll wait until a english translation project for it is announced. (if there will be no translation, I'll buy the game, but just next year) Also, just Easy and Normal difficulties? Probably there are secret difficulty settings?

Some more OT: Tension and Dreaming were left out of the PC-8801 version of Ys 1. They're still IN there somewhere (they can be extracted from the disks), but they're not used in-game. In fact, there's a total of 17 or 18 unused songs in Ys 1 (all that can be found in the data). I can't stand "Tower of the Shadow of Death" in Ys 1-2 and 4 on PCE. They ruined a perfectly good song (I mean the original), that's all.

Most of those original unused songs on the OST are fantastic, I wish more of them (especially Church & Mysterious Moment) were used. On the JDK Band 2 CD they did an awesome job with Mysterious Moment.

And I didn't know Dreaming and Tension were already there. Awesome, I really want to hear them. (The other "missing" songs too, of course!) I can't stand "Tower of the Shadow of Death" in Ys 1-2 and 4 on PCE. They ruined a perfectly good song (I mean the original), that's all. Well, the song there is very cool! but I still like the ones for PCE a little more. EDIT: Just played the unoficial True-Ys I and saw at the music section some musics. Between them was Dreaming, Church, Mysterious Moment and many others, like you said Seldane. They're awesome. (Also I noticed many of those musics were used "differently" in other Ys Games. Wasn't overdrive used in Dawn of Ys, for example?)

I think the biggest shame about Tower of the Shadow of Death is that it's such a great title but the song just doesn't live up to it. I wish they'd used Tension for the whole thing (even the older versions, I know the song existed way back). And yes, I figure it will show up in Origin, or at least a song really reminiscent of it like how Windslash Steps from VI had elements of Field and Forest of Selceta. EDIT: Just played the unoficial True-Ys I and saw at the music section some musics. Between them was Dreaming, Church, Mysterious Moment and many others, like you said Seldane. They're awesome. Out of curiosity, to what might you be referring? The PC88 version? I think you can find those tracks on the Music from Ys I cd as well. I don't remember that one crossing over, though some of the obvious tracks like Darm, Lilia and of course Tower showed up.

Haven't heard the track you're referring to, but I know there's a song called "Overdrive" used in Ys II Eternal and Complete... it's the song that plays in the Temple of Solomon, as you're preparing to head into the depths of ancient Ys. -Tom Wasn't that "Battleground"? "Overdrive" is Dalles' boss music in Ys Complete.

Site update, some new information on the World page about Salmon/Solomon Shrine, Darm Tower (though they aren't calling it that yet), the Black Pearl and Cleria. Also, two new wallpapers on the Download page, a pair of sword-wielding characters named Cecilia and Galleon.

Thanks for the update, I think I'm gonna be sad Cecilia won't be a playable character. I'm way more into her look than Yunika. The long hair, the cape, the armor! I hope Yunika gets some of that great looking armor too. I see Falcom doesn't list their last names yet. I wonder if they will.

Probably not, unless their last names are Dabby, Hadal, Gemma or Messa. There's better than even odds that we'll be encountering a few of those however.

Download those wallpapers while you can, Falcom's planning to cycle them out every tuesday. There's supposedly based on some character post card art, and they say there's 16 different ones! They posted a preview here: www.falcom.com/yso/news.html#061020b

Hmm, wonder if we can get them to send a copy of those postcards and the entry book with our orders?

I can think of two possibilities: One, after giving us a free and unannounced soundtrack cd and postcards with our Ys Origin trailer disc (oh yeah, and whatever game you preordered to get it ) they're goodied out. Two, after the 'Best Of' soundtrack, Falcom promotional video and emulated versions of I-V that came with Ark of Napishtim and the mega cd collection that came with Oath, they haven't figured out how to top their previous offerings and are hoping they'll come up with something before the ship date.
