I dump my Falcom PC games to my hard drive when I get them (to reduce loading times and because my DVD-ROM is noisy), but I never download them prior to getting them in the mail - I need to open the box before I play the game - otherwise, the experience isn't "genuine." I usually dump my PS2 games to my PS2 hard drive and play them via HD Loader as well, because of a number of awesome reasons: - Much, much shorter loading times - Less noise - More convenient (choose games from a list) - No unnecessary laser wear (the PS2 has a rather fragile laser) And I used to use HD Loader to play imports, but that's not a valid reason anymore since I have a modchip now. But that's it. I don't download the games instead of buying them.

Actually the legend of Ys in France isn't AT ALL known, I discovered it myself playing Ys and searching about it 20 years ago (more like 1990:)..Could have been a coincidence, but since Falcom actually put Esteria in France and more like in Britain (Bretagne) on their weird map, I guess they had the intention to make a link with the actual Ys legend? We should find the scenario guy Well, considering Tomoyoshi Miyazaki (the "scenario guy" who came up with Ys) has made some other games that takes place in the "real world" (Illusion of Time/Gaia, Terranigma) I don't think it is a coincidence. I guess he doesn't like making up new worlds. Just read again the liner notes in Ys X1, written by a guy named Akira Yamashita. It's written that Ys came from a French legend, of a flooded under water city "in one night". So that's it Ys is French!!!!!!!! )))))))))))

Third optional character. That just bumped up the replay value. I noticed the quick scene of the two heads boss battle looks very familiar from one of the Ys games. I wanna play this game just to witness the scenery as your on the outside of darm tower. The scenery will change as you progress farther up the tower. Probably starts off daytime then gets darker as you go farther up. Actually if you watch the game carefully you can see centipede boss that comes out of the wall in the original Y's games, he is crawling around a circular column (at 1:14 in the video). The mirrored area of Darm town at 1:19 (seems they made it platforms and not just one floor). The two demon head boss at 1:27. The praying mantis type boss at 1:32. Basically I think what they are doing is taking everything from Y's Book I and II, upgrading it graphically, using a different storyline, and putting it as a new game. Which I think everyone here would be more than happy with.

Deuce's Post "Ah, okay. Given the way "Majin" is written, I very much doubt it's his name, but rather a title or affectation. It's the same writing that was used for Buu in the Dragon Ball Z series. Literally "demon person," but I think we all know where I stand on literal translations at this point. Toal is very likely his name (or perhaps an assumed one), though."
You referred to "The Claw" as a "Demon-Person", according to your skill in japanese, isn't it, Deuce ?
That creates another odd theory...
The Claw could be a human manifestation of Dahm. Considering the way the protagonists refer to him, as "enemy", and the spell-like habilities he has, that can be surprisingly possible. I still think that Hugo IS Dark Fact, considering certain similarities on their art.... among other things.

mjmmx's Post "1. looks like ball of light is sent from Ys in the sky to esteria"
I think it's the Black Pearl, being returned to Esteria, to protect the people of Ys from it's nefarious influence.

There are two particular scenes of that trailer, that caught my eye, since they somewhat relate to a speciffic event...
At 1:38, Dahm Tower appears to have an Arcane Aura, similar to the one that was created when Adol got launched to the skies, to save Ys.
At 1:47, you can see clearly that the beam goes toward the Mount Pulecess, and gets divided in 6 parts, perhaps it's HOW the books of Ys got into the Possession of the Guardian Monsters, thus fulfilling Adol's part of the legend.

Ooh. That's an interesting thought. I'm not sure what to make of The Claw personally. I still fairly sure that he's pretty important, if his name is as I saw it in the trailer. True. There's also a small frame, that depicitates Toal and Reah. Where she's carrying the black pearl. That raises another question... Why does he seek the Pearl (IF he seeks)... Perhaps his human feelings are the ones that corrupted the Pearl in the first place....But this is too much speculation. I've been discussing that issue with Seldane for a LOOOOOOOONG while, even before the release of Ys Origin. I'd say that there is another pic, of Hugo, that shows him before some huge doors, where he's somewhat focusing his magical powers for a reason... Those doors, and environment shown on that movie, reminds me of the small room and the Door sealed, before Dark Fact... where you should use the Blue Medallion to unlock them.

These are some interesting points, though, my impression originally was that the claw could be Dark Fact. I'm not sure if I could see him being Darm. But, maybe the events in Darm Tower do infact change Hugo into Dark Fact.
And.....who is Toal again? Is that the guy suspected of being Dalles?

Seldane, my friend.... That guy resembles more Sieg Fact than Dahm. But, considering the oddity that is the art of that manga, I won't be surprised if he's actually Dahm.

I think it's the Black Pearl, being returned to Esteria, to protect the people of Ys from it's nefarious influence. In that case, someone dirtside must have sent it back to protect the people of Esteria from its nefarious influence because that's where Adol finds it. I didn't catch that one before. Hmmm, I kind of figured that we might see the books being written during the adventure but who knows what will happen. I'm also still curious about Kishgal and his sharing a name with the lost city in Ark of Napishtim. More than that, he even resembles Geis in his dress and choice of weaponry. Coincidence?
