Which character are you playing as your first time through? I picked Yunica. Who knew oven mitts could handle an axe so well?

Just finished with Yunika first. She's the traditional Ys gameplay girl, plus I figured it'd be slightly more challenging on normal mode with her and that Fact would be too easy. I don't regret the decision Fact's a lot of fun to play as too though!

finished? how short IS the game lol Well Yunika's route took me about 11 hours so... about as long as Felghana? Except this time you have 3 characters.

finished? how short IS the game lol Extremely short. Even shorter than YsF. This was expected though. The dual scenario thing is just an excuse to add "more" playtime to it. Anyway, Yunica.

Not much shorter. And the dual scenario thing is to try a completely different playing style and to get another perspective on the story (yes, it is different). It's not like you have to play through with both if you don't want to.

Ys 2 (Sat) takes me an absolute maximum of 4 hours to complete. It is still one of my favourite games of all time.
Short game length doesn't detract from how good a game might be. I've tried out Yunika and Hugo, and even at the beginning they play very differently. I won't go sa far as to say it's two games in one, but it's certainly at least 1.5 games in one - and that's not even counting the Claw.
And I think dual scenarios is a perfectly fine way to increase playtime if the scenarios are different enough, as they are.
Don't worry about game length at all - overall, it's not at all short.

I started with Hugo, and darn well loved every minute of it. Almost done with Yunica's scenario now, though I admit I feel a little guilty. Since Hugo was my first playthrough, I made all my 'ding-dong, idiot' mistakes with him, and I'm nailing everything correctly with Yunica....... who... pardon my saying, seems a bit of a dim-bulb compared to Hugo. ^.^;; More than ever I wish my Japanese was better than the 201 level I presently possess, cuz what I DID understand of the dialogue was making me giddy.

Well, by 'dim' I meant she's less intelligent. Don't get me wrong, I adore Yunica. She's just very sweet and when it comes to dedication to a cause, the girl wins! It IS nice to see they gave us a warrior girl and a magic-tossing boy though. I'm almost done with Yunica's scenario. I still prefer Hugo's for a bevy of reasons, but Yunica's story is quite nice too. What I can understand of it. ^^; (Bit belated- but thanks for the siggy compliments, mjmmx! )

Stared off with Hugo on Normal and then started another game with Yunica on Easy (for walkthrough purposes). Currently playing both characters more or less at the same time to catch differences.
I'd try for Hard mode too but I'd probably keep dying at the first boss battle regardless of who I use. XD

First boss on hard is quite tough, the rest aren't so bad. Well, up to Pictimos anyway >_>

Pictimos~! <3
That thing was my favourite boss in Ys Eternal. ^^; I can't explain why but I guess it's cuz the fight was fun. Hope it isn't insane in Origin though. *imagines 10 sickles going in every direction*

No, not that many. They're just HUGE. And quick. They're quite easily avoided when you get your timings sorted out, though, although he has a few more tricks up his sleeve. And, at least on hard, his hits do so much damage 8(
But yeh, Pictimos is cool, and one of my fave bosses from YsO!

Playing through as Hugo right now. Seems pretty sweet, though I wish my Japanese was better as I can understadn some stuff, but not nearly enough.

See, and I don't even get the impression that Yunica is unintelligent. She seems perfectly smart to me! Well, I wasn't implying that she's unintelligent. Just by comparison to some of the other characters, slightly less in the know. She is naive, but it's cute. And on a further note, finished with the Claw today at last. I freaking love this game.

Eh, take it to your own pace Least it's not quite 'over' for me because I've left myself the Claw's route to do when the patch is out (or my Japanese is up to scratch, but it'll likely be the patch first) Ys games aren't that long and only come once every year and a half to 2 years, best to make the excitement last as long as possible. ...says me who finished it with Yunika and Fact by Christmas Day.

I'm slow. I'm still in the Poisonous Blood area with Yunica, and haven't even STARTED with Hugo! But that's OK... the longer I take to play through the game, the more I'll be able to "savor" it. (: -Tom HA! You think YOU'RE slow? :P *points to signature which says 11F as of this post* You know, I was going to continue with my dual session with Yunica and Hugo but I don't think it's really worth the extra time during the walkthrough run. If I had photographic memory, then maybe. But as it stands now, I'm forgetting a lot of details with Hugo's game. XD Man, I need a Yunica plush. She's so SO adorable as a sprite. ^^~~~ And you know, pissed off Yunica doesn't seem right -- especially with her "I look only slightly angry" expression that accompanies the dialogue during that scene at Guilty Fire. :P Her eyebrows need to furrow more! >:( Although my language of Japanese be next to nil (I'm seriously not even at the grade 1 level XD), I'm really enjoying the character interactions since I do get the gist of what they're saying. (At least, I believe I do! ^.^) I just tend to miss out on all the major plot points, that's all! XD

Not that I was quick... but I was on vacation for a good two weeks literally the day after the game came out. So guess what I spent all my time doing? ^^;;;;; Heehee.
I've loved it all and I think I'm ready for a round two so I can take even MORE screenshots and attempt to puzzle through gobs of kanji I don't know yet. I guess it's good practice in its own way... ^^;
Yunica is a major cutie. ^.^ But I need a Hugo plush. What can I say, I have a weakness for the blond boys with rotten attitudes...
Speaking of those screenshots, I managed to get many of those nice portrait images before the dialogue boxed popped up via the old print screen key, since I'm no hacker and can't data rip. If anyone wants them, I'll be happy to share.
