Are they related to the people who abused the Emelas in VI? I noticed Kishgal likes to wear an assload of headbands, just like what's-his-face from VI (was it Geis?). Second question, are the abusers from VI related to Garuda (Gruder, whatever), Bami, and the other dude from IV?

Deuce, are you sure about them not having a connection to the Clan of Darkness? I thought I read somewhere that Geis, Garuda, Bami, Gadis, Kishgal, & Epona were all a part of the Clan of Darkness. You'd know better then I would, but, I thought maybe it was you that connected them all, guess I was wrong So, they were related by blood, not by allegiance or whatever? Is there a collective name for the ones that originally tampered with the Ark?

I don't know a lot of Japanese so playing this game has been difficult. (Like Deuce I dislike Yunica...) But I'd always wondered where Epona and Kishgal come from. Maybe you can shed some light, Deuce?

Is there a collective name for the ones that originally tampered with the Ark? I think they reigning explanation is that there's more than one "clan" of darkness. It's a generic term that lots of bad guys come up with, it has all the right ingredients. You've got the clan there for your secret covenant stuff, then you added a pinch of darkness to let everyone know you're reeeeeally evil.

Hmm, I like the idea of there being a specific Clan of Darkness over all this time, getting involved in things related to Eldeenian's, as well as I like my other idea, of the Romun Empire being involved in the downfall of Ys itself. But, that's up to Falcom!

Well, that's a shame, I love connection. Still, atleast there's connection between the Darklings, & Geis then, that's something. BTW, I thought Ankoku was darkness. I know nothing about Japanese, but, there's words I've learned over time, maybe Ankoku is just dark. Like Ankoku Densetsu has been translated as Dark Legend. Does Yami litterally mean darkness?

Meh. To be honest, I'm hoping for multiple groups as well. I don't like it when there's only one supremely evil group. It ruined the James Bond franchise, and I'd like to think the bad guys in Ys wouldn't have their own trade union, so to speak.

Paging Miss Lumineux for some truly hilarious fan art... Yoooooooou rang? Ys a la 007, eh? Wouldn't that be interesting... it's going on the list to try. Well, that's a shame, I love connection. I know nothing about Japanese, but, there's words I've learned over time, maybe Ankoku is just dark. Like Ankoku Densetsu has been translated as Dark Legend. Does Yami litterally mean darkness? Connection between the Darklings and Ernst and Geis, you mean. The big brother was the one trying to crack open the ark and all that good stuff. And yeah, yami 闇 all by itself means darkness, as far as I'm aware. ( WWWJDIC how I love thee.) I know it always struck me a little funny in the game when Epona's oh so proudly proclaiming that she and Kishgal are part of a group called, simply, "Dark."

( WWWJDIC how I love thee.) What would warm Jesus do in Canada? What wouldn't wholesome Jesus do? Ice Capades.

Ok, I know this means more spoilers, but, I've been thinking, when you mean that the Darklings opened the Ark, what exactly does that mean? Is it similar to what happened in AoN? Not that that helps me any, since it's been awhile since I beat it. Sheesh, we need an accurate wiki on the Ys series.

And for this, I'm glad I spent the time to type up the junk you get to read on the tabula in AoN... because that's pretty much where it gets explained.
The one that talks about the ark's "opening" is the Black Tabulas. So here it is. (I can quote up the others if anyone's interested.)
If I remember some of the long-winded villainy that Ernst rattled off in his final scenes, I believe what he was doing was also opening the ark. But, again, he lost control of it. Basically "opening" it pretty much means powering it up to make it work.

Hmm, interesting, so then, that Tablet is talking about Dalles, Zava, Kishgal, & Epona. I wonder why they went after the Black Pearl, maybe since they ultimately failed there, they moved on to a new endeavor?
Hmm, & only the white glow could control it, & Alma left her white form? Let's see, Eldeenians bodies were made of white Emelas right? So only white Emalas could control black Emelas. But, if they try to make black Emelas, the only result is ash Emelas aka Galbalan's I believe.
