Hey, it's me again. So, it's been almost a year, and I still haven't managed to find those "Ys Gaiden" songs that were spoken of here. As this is my only lead, I figured I'd try asking here again, maybe see if there's anyone here now, new or old, that just might happen to have those songs in question. Actually, maybe this might help. I made a recording of myself playing a bit of the tune I recalled, and uploaded it here: www.mediafire.com/file/qy2m2ady2yzyjqw/YsGaidenTERRIBLEQuality.wavI, must deeply apologize for how ATROCIOUS a recording job that is. All I had was a crummy old microphone I had to place on my old electric piano and I couldn't get the recording settings right and I had to use that piano instrument because the instrument I wanted was acting all warped in the recording for some reason and I kept messing up the tune so I had to keep re-recording and... it was a mess. But, I am absolutely positive the specific song I'm looking for had that main tune in it. So, if anyone here happens to have that song or maybe even know where it's from, I'd be very grateful.

Well, to chime in with the little I know, Ys Gaiden does refer to a pair of novels (the author has actually novelized the entire series up to VI apparently) and one of them does take place in Esteria. There's no music for them however so that must have been a mislabeling. There are quite a few doujin soundtracks though so it wouldn't surprise me if the songs you're looking for were from one of those. I found a site years ago that listed a bunch of exclusively Ys ones with track listings but I never bookmarked it and can't remember how I found it to begin with. I know one of the discs had a title that was a play on 'Wanderers from Ys' though.
By the way, the link's dead so I can't check the songs you've found on the off chance I heard them years ago on Palace of Solomon myself. The tune you played doesn't ring any bells with me but I have such a horrible ear for music I'm not much help there.

No no it's, it's that I don't have the songs, when I first came upon this thread that link was already dead. But I'm almost abso-posi-lutely certain that, when the link was working, that the song I'm looking for was in them. Also it's highly likely the song I'm looking for isn't even Ys-related, but maybe something from a different PC-8800 game.
Maybe it'd help if I re-capped the whole story, even though it's in more detail earlier in this thread, so I'll try to be brief:
Many years ago, an Ys fan site called "The Palace of Solomon" uploaded some songs claiming they were from an "Ys Gaiden." It's possible this was a joke, as there apparently does not exist an "Ys Gaiden" that matched the description presented on the site. One of the songs has stuck with me ever since then though, but I sadly do not have it anymore (it was on an old computer I lost years ago). I'd been searching for it every since though. I happened upon this thread, and everything I read in the previous posts here indicates that old dead link held exactly the song I was looking for. So I posted to see if just maybe someone still has those songs.
And, that's the status of things so far. I've searched through a number of PC-8800 songs, but none of them contained the song that's been stuck in my mind for years. I kinda wish I'd made that recording of the tune there a year ago when my recording capabilities were a little better, heh.

So, almost eight years later, and this is still the ONLY lead I have to finding that "Ys Gaiden" song. That's right, I haven't forgotten, nor did I forget that, should I ever find it, I would report back here for the sake of closure (which, sadly, isn't the case yet).
I had a dream last night that I had found it (though dream logic told me there was a ZX Spectrum version, which makes no sense), which is what compelled me to search again. I ran that download link up there through so many wayback machines, but none of them worked.
I know it's still a long-shot bringing this up again here, seeing if anyone still has the file (I'm not even that concerned about where the song is from, I just want to hear it again), but, well, miracles have been known to happen.
