Not much in content except a downloadable wallpaper However in order to access it you need the password found in the Famitsu scans I posted earlier But being the avid Ys fan that I am let me share my knowledge with you. The Username you can leave blank, but the password is "famitsu" Have fun checking it out!

I'd say it deffinately warrents it's own board by now. Its obviously not going the same direction as Ys Online..

They've released artwork, screenshots, and info pretty quickly. I think it's still all very early in development though, atleast I hope so. Im not too fond of what I'm seeing in the screenshots... graphicaly but also in whats happening in them. I realy hope they find a way to implement more action too. Im not too fond of the artwork either (its good, but I like what came out of the last few Ys games a lot better)

"Ys Strategy for the Nintendo DS was first announced last month, but details on it were scarce. Thankfully, the latest issue of Famitsu sheds a little more light on Marvelous Interactive's new departure for the venerable series of role-playing games.

As the name suggests, Ys Strategy strays from the series' action role-playing game roots in favor of a focus on real-time strategy. The storyline also deviates from the series' past formula. This time around, players won't be taking on a diabolical enemy as the fate of the world hangs in the balance. Instead they'll be thrown in the midst of a major war between the nations of Ys.

The series' main character Adol might sit this one out as well, as players will take control of Abel Lenford, a mercenary swordsman in the employ of one of the warring nations. However, Abel suffers from amnesia, and similarities in name, costume, and trademark red hair suggest there will be some connection between the two.

Ys Strategy uses the DS's top screen to display an overview map and a menu of the player's remaining resources. The bottom map is used for the main game screen, where the player issues commands to units on the field with the stylus. Some old-time Ys fans might not be used to RTS games, so the developer is including tutorials and advice functions to lower the learning curve for strategy game novices.

The touch screen and stylus aren't the only DS features that Ys Strategy makes use of. In addition to allowing local wireless multiplayer matches, the game also supports the Nintendo Wi-Fi service. Ys Strategy is slated for release in Japan during spring of 2006 by Marvelous Interactive."

Well, it's a prequal no doubt, & all I can assume is that it maybe answer's some questions about certain nations, & where Adol came from. Might even have more background info on the Eldeenian's.

the artworks and graphics look damn ugly ! it's like playing a ngage game ! (hey seldane ! ) i'm not going to buy this stuff.
marvelous interactive was a bad company before this, and i think they're going worse !

If I have to play it in Japanese, and it's a strategy game, chances are I won't be able to finish it, but I can't seem to let it pass by me without giving it a try.

All I can say is maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised. I want to have some positive attitude about this, it is Ys after all, Ys games don't suck, so far.

I doubt that Falcom would let another company pilot their flagship, so to speak, if they weren't confidant that said company can deliver a decent gaming experience.

I think people are being a little too skeptical too early. And while I admit that those graphics look a tad dated, a few low-res screen shots scanned from a magazine page isn't going to do the final product justice one way or the other, regardless.

I actually like the art in those drawings, I hope they incorporate them into the game somehow.

I can't help but think Abel has to have some connection to Adol also.

Falcom must have some kind of confidence in what is being done, or they wouldn't allow it to continue, would they? I love the artwork, but the game still doesn't look good at all.
