If you haven't played YsI-V yet, I suggest you to do that right away, since they are all wondeful games! If you buy YsVI from shop.himeya.com you will get it, plus the Falcom DVD, with lots of neat Ys stuff! Check it out here! www.falcom.co.jp/ys6/complete/ys_cw.htmlAlso, I believe you can purchase CW ONLY, from Project EGG, check this link out! www.soft-city.com/egg/

I would love to see that come out for the console in the USA. Unfortunately. it is doubtful. It looked like Ys eternal was coming to the USA but digicube went bankrupt. We will have to wait and see I suppose.

But these are already released for consoles. But you mean in English of course. Well, most of them can be played in English.
Ys complete works is:
YsI, PC-8801 - Several english versions (Not this particular one, though). YsII, PC-8801 - Three english versions (Not this particular one, though).
YsIII, PC-8801 - Three english versions (Not this particular one, though).
YsIV, SNES - One (inofficial) english version Ys V, SNES - No english version, sadly.

YsIV, SNES - One (inofficial) english version this is news to me, and very good news! Even if it is unofficial I would like to know what was going on. I only played the japanese Ys IV for the turbografx, never for the superfamicom or snes.

Oh, yes. This was the translation that made it possible for me to play through this (great) game. If you want, I'd be happy to provide you with a link where you can download it.

There IS a Ys IV - The Dawn of Ys Translation going... And I have a partial patch for it. The problem is that you need to make a cue/bin image of the disc, apply the patch, and re-burn the disc.... ^^

Yep. I know. Nightwolve's thing. I haven't tried it but yet its pretty worthless, I guess. It just translates the item names.. But he's making progress. That is good. I can't enjoy Ys IV for some reason, I think it's the most boring Ys game of them all.. Too bad.

This Nightwolve project is the most imporant thing for so long for me!!! Also, I'd say that the Complete Works is totally awful, at least for someone who has played the nec or sfc games...

Definitely! Nightwolve's work is much appreciated, as well as excellent. Let's not forget Aeon Genesis' work for their great translation of Ys IV as well! Awful? I think it is very, very good. Especially Ys II, I guess the Ys III game can't stand the competition agains the Genesis version.. But Ys IV and V IS the SNES versions, since there are only the SNES versions!

I agree for the SFC versions, I felt it was a terrible portage for the Ys I&II games especially... I'm interested in any link for the Aeon Genesis' work, I never heard of this!!!

Group Aeon Genesis translated Ys IV: The mask of the sun a couple of years ago. Really great. I can give you a link from the downloads section to get it.

Ys 1-5 Complete Works is IMO very bad. This EGG system is very bad compared to our usual emulators.

Yeah, I know. But that isn't exactly legal, now is it?

It's legal to have a backup of anything you have legally purchased. This includes Roms, MP3's, DVD's etc. If the FBI raids your house and finds an Ys 3 rom on your computer, and you can produce the cartridge you are safe, regardless of how you got the back up. The ones that are breaking the law are the websites that upload and distribute them. You can burn copies of your favorite DVD with no problem, but if you start selling them, you are breaking the law.
Personally I think the 24 hour thing is BS.

It is COMPLETELY illegal to copy games, it doesn't matter if you have 100 originals. It is still not allowed to make a copy. Read any Nintendo manual and see. (You can also ask them.)
