December 16, 2003 - Japanese PC developer/publisher Nippon Falcom has revealed new details on Ys Online, a game which takes the company's flagship Ys ( pronounced "ease" ) [NO IT'S NOT!! - Seldane] series Online for the first time. The game is being developed by Korean Online developer eSofnet and will be managed by Plenus Entertainment, who holds 21 million members in its Online portal sites.
Today, Falcom revealed that contract negotiations between the three companies have been completed. According to the terms of the contract, Falcom will receive one hundred million yen in closing fees from the Korean companies giving them the right to develop and manage Ys Online. The three companies will split production costs and profits. Online service for the game will begin in Korean in 2005 via Plenus Entertainment's Net Marble portal. Following that, service is expected to begin in Japan, China, Taiwan and, finally, in America.
This marks the second time in as many weeks that news of something Ys related coming to America has been announced. Fans of the classic, largely Japanese series, should be pleased.

do you know how to play spades? it is sort of like that, except you want to avoid hearts. try to get the other 3 people to pick ujp the hearts and the queen of spades. There is a quick tutorial at yahoo.com search their games and "how to play" hearts.

Ys Online sounds very interesting but it seems like it's one of these "let see if we can be as successful as Everquest Online/Sims Online."
I've played Quake2 and Age of Empires online and they were fun. And I was able to get a free copy of Everquest (it was promotion thingie) but you had to pay the subscription... maybe I'm too cheap to pay to play online but if the point of Everquest/Sims Online is to meet people... I think I could do that by going to a random chatroom.
If Ys Online comes out... I hope it's more action, adventure, co-op game and not a chit-chatty game... and for some reason, I think this game will be a hit in Japan and we wouldn't hear a peep about it here...
