If you don't like "Bag" why not try something like: Inv. (for inventory) Equip. (for equipment) Pack Gear Loot (joking)

I'm OK with it as well. He seemed dissatisfied though, so I figured a couple of suggestions couldn't hurt.

as you can see the font on the 2nd screenshot (the item description) you can see that the font is kinda ugly. We are working on a VWF and trying to create a nicer font that fits Ys, rather than the default font or the extra small one.
A quick question:
would you want to keep the Dahm Tower with Dahm or Daam??? When we looked at the name of the file that the developers made, they called it "Daam". So we were wondering if we should stay as the well known Dahm or call it the "official" Daam.

Most of the script in Daam seems to be finished translated as in text wise, but not in ROM wise... all that's left is for the other romhacker to change the text in the script file. And the spreadsheet for minea: spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pOGRUiJEHNTQeqg4aACxsLQ&hl=enif you can help translating, or can help with searching for the grammatical errors in the english, please contribute. Currently, everything in this spreadsheet has been put into the ROM- but as you see, this is the largest script file, so it's gonna take a while for it to be completely finished...

Excellent. Also, I too vote for "Darm" as it tended to show up in the official translations. Barring that, I prefer "Dahm" over "Daam."

I vote for Darm as well. It's the most common english translation for it. Anyway, these screenshots makes me.... burst into happiness. They look great! edit: Oh, "Inv." would be the best alternative for "Bag", I think. Both are fine anyway

We've located the texts in the main menu, such as the "load game" "save game" and texts in the multiplayer section in the arm9 binary... but these texts are compressed with LZ77... so when we decompress it and translate and compress it back again, the rom crashes... well it works on an emulator but not on our flashcarts. so we are looking for a work around for this.... hope it can be solved

don't worry, it was already fixed. forgot to mention it in my post though. in the width table, the lowercase r uses 5 pixels but i accidentally wrote it as 4, so the last pixel of the r was cut off. but again, it was fixed even before I uploaded those pics... don't worry too much. and more progression news: a quick translation of every text in "daam"/"dahm"/"darm" tower has been done. The item names/descriptions NPC names has been re-revised, so it is completely done. we just need to make sure everything in daam makes sense, without any grammatical errors, spelling errors, etc currently, we still are using dahm, but I'll change it to darm and release another patch when done. (just a matter of hex editing) the script of minea is still being worked on, as you can see in the spreadsheet. If you can help in any way, feel free to contribute

Progression: The Daam script file is 100% done, and has been revised 2 times. Progression pics: (well this one is old but forgot to show you a sign post pic) as of above pic, we were gonna use North west or North West but final conclusion came to be NorthWest... FINAL CONCLUSIONS: We are using Zepik instead of the following: Zepic Zepik Village Zepic Village We are using Daam instead of the following: Darm Dahm but because Daam and Darm (what you guys want) is only a letter difference, once we are done with the translation, I'll quickly change the Daams into Darms and release a separate patch for you guys... AND WE REALLY NEED HELP: WE NEED A SAVE FILE WITH ALL OF THE ITEMS, WITH THE CHARACTER IN DAAM AND/OR THE SHRINE.

Well here is how the team is managed: me - a rom hacker, doing the largest script files... noitora - the 2nd rom hacker, he's also doing his own translation project with another game so he won't be doing as much as me... (his text editor screwed him up on his daam script so I had to redo it ) kryss - a translator momo - another great translator mon~fri in game text sat~sun graphics Because I work on this translation daily with whatever is on the spreadsheet, it's going quite fast. as to graphics, there is only I believe one more portion for graphics (hope we don't need to do error graphics XP) so because there are 4 people working together, it's quite fast. and momo, our main translator finished translating a whole script file in 3 days D: (even though it only took one day for it to be hacked into the rom) well everything is going nicely except for the compressed text. the compressed text involves the text you can see in menus such as load game, save game, new game, and control scheme (the yellow text for the menu title) It works fine on an emulator but won't work when tested on a flashcart... so if that's fixed, then all we have is the graphics (gonna be worked on this weekend) and the rest of the script files, and then the patch will be released. I can't give you a promised date, but it will come soon. If the translators are fast enough, the first beta patch will come along by this month, but don't worry too much about the date. I'll keep you guys updated. Currently, more script of Minea has been translated. (now it's about 20~25% done for this script file)

The thing is that we don't want to use other's translations. (we believe Darm and Zeptic are not the actual spellings, either) As you see: Translator's spelling/Official spelling of the developers Zepic/Zepik Dahm/Daam Barbado/Barbado and we see Haiko??? Dunno what that is... so we will use Daam and Zepik. Converting all Daams to Darms is easy, but using our tool, all the text are like i'll say put together without any extra space. Then i'll need to extract the text, change, and put it back in, which won't take long but will take time for Zepik to Zeptic... But I just hope Daam and Zepik won't be such of a difference for you guys. More Minea script has been translated, and Barbado script went through its final revision today. now, we still need a save file, in a format of ANY flashcart/action replay, the save file of any emulator ETC but we really need to be able to test out the translated Daam.

Don't worry - I said I was gonna release a separate patch using Darm XP but when was the tower started to be called Darm??? was it from a fan translation, or an official translation? I asked our translators about Darm and the reply was "where the heck did you get Darm?"

Darm and Zeptic were used in official game translations. Ys Book I & II is an officially released game in english.
The very truth is: these names can be correctly translated in more than 1 form. But I find it to be more logical to use correct translations of names in which people are already familiar with.
Though anyway... I won't bother whatever name is used. I already know these characters too damn well, to be honest. xD
Note: I almost forgot. Ys Book I & II was released back in 1989, and that was before I was born. These people who don't know where "Darm" came from probably are rather new to the series.
edit: ...hm, now that I think of it, the name "Darm" was also used in the (also) official PS2 Ys VI, which was officially translated to english. Raba/ Rava/ whatever mentions it when you first meet him.

Actually, the first episode of the anime called it the tower of the damned (right?), but since Darm is a name, it wouldn't be correct to call it Damn Tower or Daam Tower. Therefore making me older than you?

Personally, I think it's a bit silly to eschew "Darm" and "Zeptic" because other fan translators happened to use them. They were used because those ARE the officially translated names, not because Nightwolve/Deuce/etc. just felt like it.
I could understand if the "Zeptic" issue is more complicated due to the extra letter, but there's no excuse for not using "Darm" IMHO.
