Alundra shares similiarites with Ys. The Ys games where Adol is swinging a sword instead of ramming.

I know very well Xanadu, Lagoon, Gaia, i finished them... but all this is old. I would like as beautifull as Felghana or Origin but I think that kind of good games is dead

Tried Xanadu Next? It is what Ys is trying to be, but never will.

I would say Crystallis and Lagoon are more around the Ys games, especially lagoon since most of the rings and equipment were originally from Ys.

I don't think I'd quite go THAT far (Xanadu Next and Ys are two very different experiences!), but Xanadu Next is indeed a really great game. It's not really that comparable to Ys, but they do share some similarities, and they're both pretty freakin' awesome. Also, there's always this: hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/chantelise/chantelise.htmI haven't played it, myself, but it certainly SEEMS like it'd be good! -Tom I got that game after Ys Origin disappointed me. Chantelise, on the other hand, didn't. It's very well worth a pick up. Another oldie but good action RPG is Dew Prism/Threads of Fate for PS1...Well, good luck finding a copy.

Frane 1-2-3 by exe-create on PC. Hard to find games, they look like Ys 1-2 Complete.

Karin no Tsurugi, a role-playing game published by DOG (a Square-Enix label) for the Famicom Disk System. It offers the same "continually run into the enemy until you or it dies" battle system. www.square-enix.com/jp/archive/karinnoturugi/

I just looked up Frane and found that www.exe-create.co.jp has demos of all three games (at www.exe-create.co.jp/download/download.htm)and they are available now for paid download through vector.co.jp (and you can download games there from overseas and don't need a Japanese credit card). There is even a Frane 3 gaiden that is a vertical shmup. I also saw that vector has another action rpg from exe-create called Vampire Hurts that looks nice. If there are any faqs out there or more info in general on these games (well, the shmup probably doesn't need one) I'd be really curious to know more about them (and thanks to Gillian Seed for mentioning the games!)

Crystalis! Can't believe I didn't think of that one. Man, what an awesome game that was! On the NES, though - the crappy GBC port is better off forgotten. -Tom i completely agree with you on that part, the NES ver. is amazing while the gbc ver. was horrible

I don't find Crystalis particularly similiar to Ys, though.
