Em... hello everyone! I'm the worst with introduction threads (actually I'm the worst with any sort of posts!) but I figured this would be a good place to cast my nervousness aside and start off by introducing myself!
I've actually been quite a long time lurker around here, referring to all of your posts whenever I had a Ys question, but somehow I've never quite had the courage to sign up? (You all seem like Ys sages!) I decided to force myself to join up now, since I had two questions that kept jumping around in my mind and I figured I might as well ask.
So unlike you all, the only Ys games I've had the chance to play are Ys I and VI. Ancient Ys Vanished Omens (the MS-DOS version) was probably the first game I ever ever played (along with Prince of Persia... but since this a Falcom related/Ys board, we shall dump that aside!). And how I loved it!! (and it did play a huge part in influencing my silly works, still does even till now!)
And then years later I rediscovered Ys through another forum where another Ys fan had the most gorgeous collection of wallpapers. And from there on I've been a... well... sort of obsessed Ys fan! (The path to Falcom fandom has not been easy for me! Considering how I started off with Ys on PC, I've now turned into a total console lover and... well... I'm too scared to try to install a PC game? I just overcame this fear by trying to install Ys I and II Complete! I managed to get my hands on the DS versions and ever since I've been running around like an obsessed fool!)
Anyways, I hope I won't be too annoying and will get to know you all!

Thank you! (Oh yes! It is, isn't it? [Even if I haven't played all the games, I think I've listened to almost all the music! *obsessed game music freak*] Though I have such bad memory I probably wouldn't have remembered had you not pointed it out...)

Welcome! Ys I MS-DOS, eh? xD That's one "peculiar" Ys game, hehe. If you are into old-school games, you should try Ys Book I & II for TurboDuo/ TurboGrafx/ PC Engine someday. =) Or at least Ys I.II COMPLETE, it's an awesome game! By the way, does your nickname reffers to the Chrono Trigger boss "Yakra" by any chance?

Wow... thanks a lot everyone! I find you all a bit less intimidating already! Honestly, I hardly remember the game much anymore (beyond how amazing Sarah was! ) I'm just pretty sure it was that version since those computers (IBM PC DOS ones) were the only ones I was deemed worthy to touch! (I must have been 6 or 7 then..) But oh yes! I most definately will try out Ys I.II Complete - if I don't blow up my computer in the process! I mean if I loved the DS versions so much (without even being able to understand! And considering how I read you all find them pale copies of the PC versions!), well... (And yes, one day I shall attack the TurboDuo versions too!) And yep, its the same old Yakra. I've usually gone by this name in most places. This guy needs more love! (Though incredibly easy to beat he most definately is!) I love Chrono Trigger.... and I still got the whole box!! Oh lucky lucky you!!! I played the original Chrono Trigger on a friend's SNES and the Playstation version I have is a pirated one. Its next to impossible to get originals here (pirated versions being the 'accepted versions') short of literally selling one's soul (or atleast harrassing the shop keepers until you get sick of yourself even!). Heh... I feel tempted to go play Chrono Trigger now after hearing you guys talk about it! *puts it in the 'next to play' list*

I remember that one, I think! But I am playing on new game +..... it is a HUGE disappointment, I thought the game would increase the difficulty of the enemies, since you get to start with some nice gear and high levels. Apparently it doesn't, and that sucks. It's too easy now. No fun. Maybe I'll start over, the real way.

Give 'em hell, Dad! Also, what part of Pakistan are you from? I want to delude myself into thinking I know a little bit about it, and the best way to break that feeling is to have a native stump me.

*Funf!!!!!* Hello there, and WELCOME!! -- although I technically already introduced myself, hi! Pakistan... Pakistan... do you write in Arabic out there, per chance? I actually have a backpack from Saudi Arabia, my name's written on it in Arabic and everything! (I think... I'm not sure, I'm geographically and linguistically challenged.) My sister got it for me while she was out that way. It's cool seeing fans from all over the world unite here. So I hope you have fun here and stuff, welcome to the tribe/cult/sect/club!

The real Chancellor! Honestly, I actually preferred him and his box jumping tendencies to stinky old Yakra, but meh... I'm from Islamabad. I doubt that info is enough to stump you! What grand (or actually, not so grand!) impressions did you have of Pakistan? Unsavory Maggot: Nope. No Arabic. Though Urdu is written in arabic script (So... I guess your name might be spelt in almost the same way in Urdu? [but then my Urdu reading is horrid too...]). There were some attempts to teach me ancient Arabic when I was a kid, but since I frightened my tutor away with ink... ehem.

Bloody right I'm the real chancellor! I really don't know a whole lot. I almost got some geographical knowledge just following the US Presidential Primaries and current events. The general feeling I tend to get is that Pakistan is a pretty moderate place with some extremists who came in following the wake of the invasion of Afghanistan and have been stirring up trouble. I've also gotten the general consensus that the Waziristan region is pretty much Pakistan's in name only, and can mostly be considered all but lawless frontier lands. Lessee...I know there's some bad blood with India, over how the nation was formed when Britain stopped colonizing the region, but I don't recall the specifics. I did a little study on the politics of the area that were concurrent with Benazir Bhutto's exile, return, and assassination; but what little I recall is pretty dated. So really, I don't know all that much. But I have this niggling little voice that says since I've done a little research, I can consider myself knowledgeable. Shit, I'm thrilled that I remembered Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan.

You're knowledgable enough! Well almost. News always makes things far more dramatized. This place was quite totally normal enough until some sudden rush last year (never saw any extremists before that either! ).

Yeah, if I recall what a National Geographic from last year said on things, Islamabad didn't have too many troubles in comparison to other places, but my memory is pretty fuzzy. And I can dig on dramatization. The Nightly News can sometimes be pretty horrible about dramatizing things, which is how a lot of people in the US learned anything about Pakistan.
Also, I should probably give you a proper welcome.

Welcome! Are you the same Yakra on DeviantArt? I LOVE YOUR STUFF By my mandate, everyone check it out, it's awesome. It's good to see gamers are everywhere. It seems like neighboring Afghanistan is rather isolated in a cultural sense, not knowing much about the world outside of their country. I wasn't sure how much video games and other outside forms of entertainment have reached that area. If you're not afraid of installing a PC game, Falcom ships all over the world! They ship anywhere Express Mail Service(EMS) ships. I don't know if EMS goes to Pakistan. Anyways, enjoy your stay here!

Hearing about EMS just made my day! Yes, its available here! (Oh joy! The only good thing Pakistan Post has done!) I've even used it at times to send stuffs to others, actually. I think I most definately plan to get the games. Soon! (I want!!) Er... first I have to get a credit card though... :'D I just got over my fear of installing games on my computer by starting off with Ys I.II Complete. Er... its still not working properly but surprisingly Oath in Felghana is? (And miracle of miracles! I haven't blown everything up yet!) And thank you! Yep, I'm the same Yakra from DeviantArt. I'm actually shocked and really honoured you actually like my works! (Are you on deviantart too, by any chance? I've so far only discovered Haven and Lumineux's works [Lumineux's because of that amazing 'Oops in Felghana' drawing!]) Ehem... I thought Afghanistan was quite isolated and a barren war zone, but I just recently heard from someone that it has become quite a 'hip and happening place'. Eh??
