Say, when you folks spell something out for people (especially over the phone), do you use word associations such as D for door, V for Victor, etc.?
I've been noticing that some people like to use the word "foxtrot" for F. :O I've ... never even thought of using that for F. ^^

Oh boy. This reminds me of the time when I said I think I'm deaf, the girl over the phone was like "death?" and I said no, deaf -- with F, as in "phone". X) I can't spell when I'm tired, apparently.

I never do it, and I think it is ridiculous when people do. When I worked in a computer store, the other guy there always spelled everything out, and using words or names for it. EVERYTHING. Even normal words like, Hello! Harvest Ends Le Lich's Order Honestly.

I don't mind if they do it for long, complex names... but for names and things that only have ONE spelling which I'm well aware of, it pisses me off and insults my intelligence to no end. Just once I'd like to watch as *ahem* someone "accidentally" chokes them for me.

My last name sounds like a familiar word, so everyone spells it wrong. They either miss one letter or they add an s for some stupid reason beyond all logic and comprehension. You'd think people would know how to spell a five letter last name if you'd spelt it out for them! Even spelling it out, they get it wrong. Some can't even spell my first name right, even though it's rather common normally spelt the same for most people who have multiple divisions of the same name. X)
