I'm going to try reading Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai (the original VN). It seems above-average for a harem VN, and a few friends have recommended it. Helps that I like some of the characters, too.
I don't know if I'm really in the mood for an eroge though, and it'll probably take me months to finish with how long it takes me to translate a single line.

I'm finally caught up on Persona 4. Gotta say, I'm. . . rather unimpressed. The animation style is great, but the content. . . well, I'm the last one to complain about something not taking itself too seriously, but things that are dark and severe are allowed some comic relief. It's why Kentaro Miura can get away with Puck and Ishidoro. Persona 4 isn't dark enough to warrant the (unfunny) silliness. In fact, it seems to put quite a bit of effort into downplaying any mature and serious themes, and puts itself across as more of a comedy. A largely unfunny comedy. I don't HATE it, hence my watching it up to this point, but I really can't bring myself to care about the characters' plights when even THEY don't seem to give a damn what's going on. Now that I've watched all the ones on my hard drive, I'm not sure if I'll be downloading future episodes or not.

'Kay, while I'm still a bit annoyed at Xander's lack of kingly refinement, they got the diplomatic tendencies right. And the writing of his philosophy and ideals reflected a remarkable comprehension of a conqueror's mindset. It's really hard not to like him after that episode. The realization of Saber's blindly parochial noblesse oblige was really sad though. ♥ tragic heroines.

Screw Persona 4. Steins;Gate manages to be wonky and gripping at the same time. Loved the first episode!

I'm working on Nurarihyon no Mago at the moment. I must admit, really digging the flow of the art and the plot. Based on actual Myths from japan and demons from there too? Yes please! ^_^

It's me! I've just been victimized by a fierce psychological attack! This is bad! My soul. . . my soul is being devoured! One of the reasons I often don't care for humor in anime is that they usually default to childish comedy that does nothing for me. (haha, his head is animated funny cuz he'z mad!) The banter in Steins;Gate is priceless. Not only is the constant comedy actually funny, but the eccentricities of the characters are believable, so it doesn't detract from the show. I REALLY wish they made more shows with banter-style humor. (CAN'T BELIEVE ALL THE GREAT SHOWS THAT ARE BOMBARDING ME!!! SQUEEE!!!) I'm not a pervert! I'm a perverted gentleman!

Watched the first three episodes of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. While I typically prefer the willful conflict of man vs man/self/oh-god-what-the-fuck-IS-that-thing-trying-to-eat-me plots over man vs nature, it's actually a pretty gripping drama. The directing manages to bring out emotional immersion in scenes of tension without melodramatically overplaying it to the point of bathos. And I actually give a damn about the characters. My only real complaint is the animation. Or rather, the faces. The animation on the whole is fine, but people's eyes and mouths REALLY bug me. And most of them remind me of frogs. Also watched the first episode of Umineko no Naku Koro ni. The opening and first scene seemed so severe and gothic. . . and then "LET ME FEEL YOUR BREASTS!" WHAM! Old woman: "would you like to feel my breasts?" While it has it's silly and zany moments (I really miss the banter from Steins;Gate ), it also has dark enough overtones--along with politicking and rich-folk scheming--that I suspect I'm going to love it. And I thought Maria's "Uuu, Uuuu"s were supposed to be cute at first (like Mayuri's "doo da doo"), but got annoyed by it. . .then Rosa started smacking the crap out of her for it (and it became clear it was a tick and not an intentional cute-girl eccentricity). I expect to love this show. I just hope they keep the zaniness to a reasonable quality rather than breaching into Persona 4's perpetual "Me so funny!"

After seeing the second episode, I don't know if I'm going to be able to go back to Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 until I'm done. That shed full of corpses completely bound up my attention. I'm fighting the urge to go on and watch the next one even though I have other things to do.
And it was a really nice touch introducing a peripheral love story. Aww, so sweet. If your answer is yes, you'll be wearing the ring tomorrow. Oh, where did she go? What? One of the disfigured corpses is wearing the ring? Aww. So sweet. Great fucking show.

Episode 7 of TM8.0 was on the slow side (though it made up for it with the ending), but my complaint is this:
A 7th grade nerdy robot otaku DOES NOT have the upper body strength to support his own weight and that of a robot with the fingers of a single hand.
The show's been mostly realistic up till the Bruce Willis stunt acting by Kento.

Episode 17 of Mirai Nikki made me The ending was pretty bad, but beyond that, I think 7(s) had more right to win than that coward protagonist. Aside from the hair, I really liked Marco, and couldn't help but respect and agree with everything he said--and he pegged the story's main duo spot on.

Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Willis Karura? Which scene do you mean? In what way was it different? --while the original work is ALWAYS better, as someone who didn't experience it, I had not gripes. Also, randomly, I just remembered a line worth mentioning: "If you stab my dad to death I'll never forgive you. . . you can't poison him either!" Considering taking a new sig.

I actually liked that scene, because I hated it. Forced, perhaps, but it pissed me off, forcing sympathy and compassion for characters I wouldn't have cared about otherwise--changing my opinion of the outcome. (the point of drama is to manipulate our emotions, after all) I honestly thought he'd get there in time--because that's usually how these things play out in shows--and when he didn't I said, "he'd BETTER kill those fuckers." Glad he did. I do like that the show isn't afraid to push the envelope and break from happy cliches. Teenagers? Or someone who trusts her BF?

Saito Hiroshi, better known as the Muscle Cop, was cornered by a man who taught him the hard way that birds are not free. Saito, naked and covered in semen, was then surrounded by a mysterious gang.
