It's Ys and Wyrdy. It's going to rock our worlds like a freaking hurricane no matter what.

Floofeh, Varion and Doppi are equal parts of it, too!

Pipe dream patch surprise for me would be the rest of the OST being boosted to SAV levels and being inserted

A fully functional Adol story mode would be neat. XD Now I'm just pulling ideas out of my bum, I can't imagine what could be so spectacular. Regardless, I'll look forward to it!

I'm almost getting the impression that you guys have an NDA on a license doppi acquired to release the game in english! That's my not-tto-serious theory, anyhow, haha. I wonder, I wonder~ *Waits patiently*

I would be one of the first to know if the announcement was made, but sadly, I have to say the time has not yet come.
Rest assured, though, I'm just as eager as you are, if hearsay is any indication.

Gah, you tease! =p
Especially with all the recent Ys news, I'm eager to dig out my Origin disc and play it again. Been waiting ever so patiently for a patch. Played through it only once so far, with Hugo when I first got the game. I don't even think I bothered installing the extra disc yet either. =p Long since finished Felghana on every difficulty except for Inferno, which I don't even think I have unlocked. Boss rush on Nightmare for that, yea? Eh, I'm not quite that hardcore, Nightmare was... rough to say the least on some of those bosses.
Hmm, maybe I'll scratch the Ys "itch" by digging out Ys VI... Yeah...
I'll still be checking back, lurking as always, waiting to see if the vow of secrecy has been lifted yet. =p

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but I've been keeping track of mainly this translation and the one for Sora no Kiseki, which I was disappointed by hearing that they dropped it.
Anyway, can you give an estimate on the progress you've made with this? Over 50%? 80%? I know it sounds a bit impatient but I'm eager to see if this is still making progress after hearing about the other cancellation. Thanks

You know the other one was dropped because a company picked it up for an official localization, right?

Ah, I read the previous few pages in the thread and realised how often this question gets asked. Sorry Wyrd! You know the other one was dropped because a company picked it up for an official localization, right? Well it was a kind of mixed disappointment, I know it's getting official localisation, but it'll probably come only sometime next year. Though I don't really know how far along the fan translation was. I know this is a little off topic, but regarding the localisations, can someone clarify which ones are coming to the PC? I read around and I can only find stuff regarding the PSP.

Nothing's coming to PC in English officially. It's all PSP, but that's better than nothing by a long shot! Ah that's a shame, since I don't own a PSP (PC is my main gaming platform). Still, I'm hoping that a PC translation for Sora no Kiseki will come along sometime, I've heard lots of good things about that.

Though I don't really know how far along the fan translation was. About a quarter of FC done I think, and that would be a generous estimate. The constant hacker issues really held us back - didn't have one for ages, finally got one and then he promptly lost all his files in a HD crash about a month later, and never recovered or recreated them. Typically this was just before christmas, when we were intending to have a nice prologue patch out to show for ourselves

Though I can only hope that they bring it to the PC as well, if not, would you be willing to pick up the translation for the PC version?

Like, steal the script? I think that would be a very bad idea. >_>

Oh, well at that rate I suppose it's better that the company's going to release it next year. Though I can only hope that they bring it to the PC as well, if not, would you be willing to pick up the translation for the PC version? Can't say at this point, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Even if we were to do so, it would involve waiting a significant amount time for XSEED's version to go out of print (ie for them to stop getting money for the game), and if the PSP2 is backwards compatible with PSN downloads then that period of time is just going to get longer. But even assuming that all this happens, the game is out of print and we could confidently say that XSEED wouldn't get a penny more from its sales, it'd still be a ton of work retranslating, hacking and editing a game that the vast majority of fans will have already have played, especially because I assume there'll be PSP emulators around by then. And like HJ suggested, there's no way we're going to steal XSEED's translation of the script to save time. I think I can speak for the whole group in saying we respect them too much for that. So yeah, sorry I can't give you a more hopeful answer (My dislike of the PSP is well known around here I think, so I do sympathise) but it's just how it's ended up.

You should just go buy a PSP! The PSP is an awesome system! Don't listen to Varion - he crazy, yo! HE CRAZY!! Don't you start! I'm free to hate underpowered, uncomfortable handhelds with finger-wrecking nubs all I like!

Yeah, the nub is pretty fail, but I can live with it. The rest is great, especially for a big-time piratefag like myself.

When did we start talking about the DS? I used to hate on the PSP pretty hardcore myself, especially the controls, until I owned one. Now I look back and think my reasons for hating it were pretty silly.
