I can blame my friends for baiting me into the Ys series, from playing the Ark of Napisthim for the PS2 to the Oath in Felghana for the PC, and now I want to try out Ys I and II Eternal/Complete for the PC. Unfortunetly, I have a few questions that I have to ask because I haven't been able to find any help from various sites like www.rigg.arrowsmash.com or any other guides I've been searching online. Before I ask my questions, I should probably state my current situation...
#1 - For the specs of my computer, I don't know much about that but I do know this. I've played Ys - The Oath to Felghana (and beat it, best game ever) with no problems. Unfortunetly my friend helped me hook it up for my PC, he burnt me a copy of his original disc to run in my computer while it played. I'm also aware that the language settings must be set to Japanese before I play this game; I had to do the same for Oath to Felghana.
#2 - I've downloaded this game via torrents, "Ys_I_and_II_Eternal_Complete_English-ELAZUL". I'm keeping everything under C:FALCOM/YS12_CMP with two folders in YS12_CMP, one called YS1_WIN and YS2_WIN.
#3 - I found that I needed a patch, something about it's version being 1.07 or something like that. I already had something like that included in the torrent, a zipped file called ysc0107. I found, what I assume, two executables for Ys I and Ys II as well as an updater of sorts. I assume that the folder names for Ys I and II had to be named YS1_WIN and YS2_WIN due to the executables.
#4 - For patching Ys I, I was told to click on PATCH-YS1_WIN after I got all my files together, yet I had an error saying it was missing a file called "DATA/DATA.Ys". I've yet to start that game ever since.
#5 - For patching Ys II, I got farther than Ys I. I had to use PATCH-YS2_WIN, and I was told to copy everything from the patch's YS2_WIN folder and take it to the game's YS2_WIN folder before patching. I still did and it said patching to YS2_WIN.EXE was a success, but now it can't find a file called "YSE_CNF.EXE" in the folder. I didn't have a "YSE_CNF.EXE" in the patch's folder. I still tried to execute YS2_WIN.EXE and it does boot up, it's just that the screen stays black and the game freezes.
I'm sorry to bring this question up, but www.rigg.arrowsmash.com does not seem to be working nor it's IP equilivient, 67.19.121.94, so I don't know whoelse to turn to.
So...what am I doing wrong?
