active.upper.jp/xanadu/howto/first.htmlI found a guide of sorts, but I can't make anything out. The encoding appears in garbage accented letters, oddly enough. I know my computer is set to display Japanese pages. Edit: Mostly, the information I think that's important, is the Disk A-E bit -- especially since I've been unaware of anything beyond Disks A-C.

Heh, you were right! Thanks man! Let's see if me and Rikaichan or babelfish can figure this out. Edit: According to this thing, Disk D is definately the Xanadu Scenario II Program Disk, which I did load up following Disk A in Drive 1 -- the Xanadu Program Disk -- with Disk C -- the User Disk -- in Drive 2. Disk E is the XSII Data Disk, required to format the User Disk. I'm almost thinking that I need to format the User Disk with both Disk B -- the Xanadu Data Disk -- and Disk E. Hopefully that's right, somehow, although it makes little sense to me why they'd set it up like that.

Ah, so I don't need Disk B. I used Disk E to format Disk C, Disk A to create a character on Disk C (and be told to switch to Disk D in Japanese), and Disk D to be told that Disk C is an illegal disk. How peculiar.
Many Edits later: Disk C isn't write protected -- otherwise, I couldn't create a character on it. Unless that site has any further directions between using Disk A to create a character, enter the cave, and switch to Disk D in that funny room (in which case, I switch to Disk D and press reset) I think my guess is as good as anyone's.
I suppose I'll have to use a different emulator, or a different disk set altogether. I know that they're all 8801 Disks.

I think I'll just create another Disk C and call it good. Maybe whoever created the Disk C for Scenario II didn't create it right. I'm not even sure what right is, because my program asks me "how many files?" whenever I create a new disk. Next time, I won't even answer that question. EDIT: Bragh! I was right. I had to make my own User Disk, because the one that was included in that pack was somehow... not usable. Strange though, you can't start without losing 1200 HP?! You HAVE TO jump diagonal into the spikes? Edit 2: This is pretty hard! Edit 3: Using your key trick, I managed to save up to 14704 Gold, almost halfway toward getting the scroll of Death. Here's what I have so far: Porisumanfakk - Aspirant (Only enough room for 13 characters?!) Short-Sword Mittar Padded-Mail +2SmallShield STR 105 WIS 30 DEX 35 MGR 15 INT 30 CHR 100 AGL 20

I'm thinking of playing again for the msx, cause every fall for some reason I need to play something that is 8 bit. What would be the perfect stats for the msx?

I don't know man... I've got some pretty bad stats -- or I've handled them poorly. Not to mention I have 80 Karma now, and I figured out what punk gave me all that. Damned "Marges"... I finally beat Scenario II's first boss... twice. I'm a level 1 in fighting and magic. Can't level up again until I find enough poison to clean my Karma stats. I have nearly 200 for Ring Mail and 50 for my +2SmallShield. I have a Hand Axe at roughly 90-ish. Building up these stats is a pain. I can't do anything about the Giant Kraken or the White Dragon (both in Level 2) as their defense far exceeds my current strength. To top it all off, you have a very limited amount of enemies you can fight in this Scenario II; especially early on! The first two levels are pretty much bare now. XD The only enemies that give me a tough time are the damned hand enemies -- which cast magic that can kill me pretty fast.

Yeah... but if I Ctrl-Q, it saves and quits -- and I keep that 100GP that I'd otherwise lose in the original Xanadu. Is there a way to save without quitting -- aside from bosses and caves?
Not to mention, I didn't realize I had so much Karma until after I backtracked to level 1 to enter the temple, heal and fight the first boss. XD Damned auto-save!

I remembered that the ghosts gave you bad karma points, so maybe staying away from them is a better approach though my memory is hazy.

WHEW! God, I thought I'd have to start the game over. I snuck into level 3 -- where the enemies are apparently weaker than in level 2 -- and I jumped over a set of 3 spikes to get to two shops. Much to my misfortune, I'd saved, so I had to jump all the way back up, hitting each and every spike. I had two elix... damn I can't spell right now.
...I used two elix. on the way up, and had to wait for a "Iron Wore" (heh, first Giant Bags and now Iron Wores...) before attempting a daring strategy. I tapped 8 Up, 7 Up-Left and 4 Left to get into a battle, left the top of the battle screen, and therefore avoided spike damage. I thought I would never make it out of there!
I brought my Karma down to 29-ish fighting the Iron Wores, so... just a few more. I'm just afraid that I won't be able to get back out if I jump down again, since I have to use the enemies as platforms.
Edit: I also maxed out my Ring Mail. Damned spikes in Level 2 prevent me from buying and keeping the freakin' Deluge and Fire scrolls. I wish I had some Wing Boots... and more Elixir. Oh, yeah, NOW I can spell it. I'm hoping to bring back some better equipment with me on my return trip to Level 2 -- I haven't beat the Giant Kraken or the White Dragon yet.
