Yeah, there's a bug in the game. It was mentioned a while back, somewhere. It's a neat bug which can be used to get items and go to places much earlier than should've been possible at the time.

Interesting... Any ideas on how to do it?

Something about alternating a few swipes here and tapping where you want to go. I think it requires you to be in boost mode. It's been a long time since I've read that topic. I think Red Hairdo knows about this.

I know about this. xD It's good to see more people have discovered it besides me... perhaps I'm not the only "bugs hunter" out there. Posting about this in details once again will wear me out totally... I'll search for one of my posts regarding that subject. *searches for more than an hour* ... There. Many quotes from posts I did long ago. Feel free to read whatever quote you like. By the way, did you know you can already get the Dash ability BEFORE getting that Wind bracelet? Or even better, did you know you can actually skip (until a certain point : the first Boss from that Lava Dungeon in Illburn Ruins? Heh, I was messing around and trying many things to find as many bugs and "extreme techniques" as I could, and I ended up discover some difficult-to-execute distant jump without the wind bracelet (it doesn't go THAT much more distant, though). I think I'll record a video of it to show everybody. OH SHIT! HOLY CRAP!!!!! XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Well... Remember when I said you can get the Dash ability before getting the wind bracelet and fighting the first lava level boss? xD While replaying YsF on VE, I saw that long, broken bridge in Tigray Quarry. You can only cross there and get that old hag's pendant using the wind magic. Or so it was meant to be. xD I use the same trick I did before, and I managed to cross the bridge in the very beginning of the game! xD That is, without Dash, Double-Jump or Wind Magic. I tried to give the pendant to the old woman to see what would happen... nothing happens. xD You have to give it to her after you have done the ruins and the lava levels. Man, I'll record this, too. xD I shall give that trick or glitch some name. By the way, here it is MP83 : *clickance!*It's about 1MB sized. I used WindowsMovieMaker to cut a few unnecessary seconds, but it killed the quality too. Though that made it small (1MB instead of 20). Anyway, there it is. Though I will make a lot more proper video about that trick, showing all its variety of uses and all, as well as some explanations. The principle behind this trick is pretty simple actually. You have to mix the "Jump Slash" ability (attack in air while ascending + press any directional key) with normal ground attacks. With "Jump Slash", you can do a 3-hit slash midair that lets Adol stays airbone for a little more time and it makes him go a bit more far. To do that "Extended Jump Slash", how I like to call it, you just have to do the first two slashes of the Jump Slash in the very beginning of your jump fastly, then you need to fastly attack again, but this time without pressing any directional key and after it you can keep attacking to go even more far. Starting from the 4th aerial attack it's good to hold on a directional key to go further, which also works in ground. There are also some very small and very little significant variations of this trick, but like I just said, it's quite useless. Anyway, the trick seems to work effectively in some places. It also is a bit useful in some boss battles. It also works great against airbone enemies. Well, I'll still make a decent video about all of that. xD By the way, which program(s) do you use to edit videos? I hate MovieMaker, because it kills the quality, so I'm looking for other options too. =x Also: at the first tries, this technique is a bit dificult to execute, but with a few time, you will use it at your own will without much problems. At first, I had to get kinda "angry" to do it. xD But now it's OK. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!! XDDD Check this out! I managed to go to the Elderm Mountains WITHOUT THE DOUBLE JUMP! xDDDDD Basicaly, you have to go on Hero Mode, then use the first three midair slashes very fastly (I think both Jump Slash and that extended one work though), then you unleash the charged Wind Magic and presto! Awesome! With that you can at least skip the Abandoned Mine! XDDDDDD Also, wtf will happen to the game's plot? Will everything happen normally in the Elderm Mountains or WHAT? XDDDD Things will be really messed up. Or maybe not, sice you can get the Double Jump without going through the Boss of the Abandoned Mine, so Falcom must have put some "barrier" in the game if one go (far) in the mountains before beating the boss. Lol, I don't really think it's possible, but I'll see if I can clib there without the Wind Magic some other time. Probably not, but I'll try to look for something. I went to the Elderm Mountains, not only without the Double Jump...BUT ALSO WITHOUT THE WIND MAGIC! XDDDDDDD You can go to the mountains since the very beginning of the game! XDD Hahahah!!! You have to go on Hero Mode AND it SEEMS that you HAVE TO use that Extended Jump Slash Glitch/ Trick. Though I'll confirm that some other time. It's a little bit difficult, but nothing that difficult. Man, I'll see if I can record this and show to you guys. Doing that in Inferno Mode, for example, is quite interesting I'd say. Since you could probably kill an enemy in the mountains and gain a massively huge amount of levels there before going to anywhere else. That way, the first few parts of the game maaaay be kind of easy even on Inferno... I think. There's more to it. Not too much though. If you got any questions, just ask. And YES, you can access The Elderm Mountains right after starting a new game. xD It seems that guy didn't discover that yet. This "Extended Jump Slash" can be done in different intensities. To get the best of it, you need a ridiculously absurd timing. I had crossed 1/3 of the 2nd part of the bridge in the Tigray Quarry using it like that, but it is pretty hard. It seems the uploader doesn't know that yet. But I'm sure he will find out if he keeps on researching like this.

That's quite a bit of information! Thanks! I'll give this stuff a try when I get home.
These kinds of findings keep games going for me, yet, I'm not fond of using the techniques in a competitive manner (like snaking in some racing games).
Ah, but I will never be done playing YsF until I beat Nightmare and beyond.

You mean Mario Kart, especially the DS one, right? xD Haha, yeah, many people use that technique out there. I have a friend who is REALLY good at it, as he wins most local Mario Kart DS tournaments. xD (The guy is pretty sharp on most games actually.)

Just re-uploaded them. www.sendspace.com/file/xk5a3i (Tigray Quarry Bridge Crossing) www.sendspace.com/file/7uubjf (Getting at the Mountains with Hero Mode and Wind Bracelet) www.sendspace.com/file/ukidlc (Getting at the Mountains with Hero Mode only) Just a few notes: - This technique has a very simple principle. The thing is that it needs to be fastly executed, yet rationaly. It can't be done wildly or if you are rather angry or annoyed. - Don't expect to be able to fluently pull it off in the first day. But expected to be able to be successful many times the next time you try it in some other day. At first I used to get kinda irritated because it wouldn't always work. A day later or so, I got the hang of it, and it becomes rather easy to use it. Like some wise person once said, "practice makes it perfect". Also, you can compare how distant I got after I crossed the bridge at Tigray Quarry with that person on YouTube. I went slightly farther, because I used it at its fullest, which is something VERY hard to pull off. I wish I could always use it THAT well. The input commands for regular Jump Slash are: Press Front + Attack ----> Press Front + Attack ----> Press Front + Attack All must be done midair, naturally. The input commands for Extended Jump Slash are: Press Front + Attack (must be done right after the jump begun, though not TOO soon or you will end up doing a ground attack while jumping) ----> Press Front + Attack ----> Press Attack ONLY. (After this, you can continue slashing midair in any way you wish it.) All must be done midair, naturally. The input commands for Extended Jump Slash at its fullest are: Press Front + Attack (must be done right after the jump begun, though not TOO soon or you will end up doing a ground attack while jumping) ----> Press Front + Attack ASAP ----> Press Attack ONLY, ASAP, and RIGHT after the game read the attack command, press front and keep slashing mindlessly. All must be done midair, naturally. About that last one, MAYBE it would be better if you repeated the Extended Jump Slash Process (instead of mindlessly slash). That's only a very small detail though, and is still not confirmed. Probably works the same. To use it with Hero Mode to get to the Elderm Mountains, basically you have to be able to use the Extended Jump Slash twice very fastly. The Hero Mode enables you to execute the attacks twice as fast. So it is twice as hard. Don't try this on your first tries.

Just don't get discouraged. At first it's difficult, but soon enough you will get the hang of it and will use it at your will. Anyone can master the Extended Jump Slash. And anyone can climb the Elderm Mountains. Trust me.
