We don't get much in the way of "insert word here"-cons up in cold ass Canada.

Totally down. I am staffing MangaNext this weekend, but after that, I will toss out some emails to people I know and see if I can get into the staff for Katsucon. Plus this will let me fulfill a promise I made to a friend over a year ago, that haven't been able to fulfill. Buggy, how did you feel about Otakon. My personal experience with cons, is that generally, people feel unwelcoming, because most come with a group of other friends, and they are the only ones they feel like hanging around. Unlike years ago when people used to just go to conventions just to be around people that like the same thing as them. Personally, I am not too out spoken, and look a little nasty when first spotted, so people don't initiate conversation with me. I mean, I have had people ask me if I was looking for a fight, just because of how I generally look. But once I start talking to people, I do see slight relief in them. Simply put, I think most people seem "mean" just because they are terrible in social events, something that is connected to any person at an anime convention, probably 25 times a day. While there are those that will generally just be vicious, most probably just don't know how to handle themselves. My two cents on the never ending conversation piece. Edit: Never heard of it??? We don't get much in the way of "insert word here"-cons up in cold ass Canada. Anime North is also on my list of want to go to cons. -Jeremu

I'm also shy! It took a lot for me to post my picture here and on my blog. If I had a computer ten years ago, there's no way I would have even considered doing that.
Thanks for the heads up Buggy! I am planning on traveling more next year, and I'll keep this convention in mind.

wyrdwad - yeah I agree, we should arrange to meet up. my sister and I are already planning on meeting up with some friends from Otakon there, I think becoming better friends with you guys would be just awesome. and xDDD that shirt is cool, I would totally buy that. MonoTekETeA - I nevr really thought about it like that.. you make a good point though. oh I love going to otakon everyone is so open wiht everyone else, you dont really have to worry about not being able to make friends or anything like that. GMF - heh it'd be awesome if you were to attend too, it'd be like yay! more friends. traveling sounds fun right about now. my sister, a friend and I are planning on going on a con spree on 2010 since we all graduate highschool this year, and it'd be a nice experience away from home for a while lol guess now my sis and I have another reason to skip anime Boston again xD

Was there last year, was pretty fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening Japanese film selection (yeah who watches Kurosawa at anime cons, but there wasn't anything better to do atm...)
I wish I could go this year as well, but I'll be studying in China instead >____<
